Systems, methods and computer program products for inherently integrating mobility with an enterprise are described herein. Enterprise data is accessed from one or more data sources, wherein such data sources may comprise structured and unstructured data sources. The data is transferred from the enterprise to a plurality of mobile devices over a plurality of diverse networks. In an embodiment, such transfer takes into consideration characteristics of the diverse networks. The enterprise receives data generated by mobile devices while performing enterprise-related operations at the wireless edge. The enterprise responds to environmental changes using the received data.

Unwired enterprise platform

Methods and apparatuses for communications between web service applications and web services are described. A first interface is coupled between the application and a messaging system. A second interface is coupled between the messaging system and the web service. The first interface is configured to receive a web service request from the application, to format the web service request into a Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) request message, to include the SOAP request message in a first electronic message, and to transmit the first electronic message to the messaging system. The messaging system is configured to receive the first electronic message at a first node, to transmit the first electronic message across a communications network to a second node, and to couple the first electronic message from the second node to the second interface. The second interface is configured to receive the first electronic message from the messaging system, to extract the SOAP request message from the first electronic message, and to transmit the SOAP request message to the web service. Furthermore, a web service response is returned from the web service through the second interface, messaging system, and first interface, to the web service application.

Queuing of invocations for mobile web services

A Database Development System is described that provides methodologies for creating a Java-based database control object (the 'Java DataWindow') for use in a Client/Server Database System. The methodology provided by the present invention maintains the DataWindow properties (e.g., SQL statement for data to retrieve, format specifications, and the like) at a server-side DataWindow component residing at an application server. A corresponding client-side DataWindow component, embedded for instance in a target HTML page, knows how to query the server-side DataWindow component for dynamically streaming the DataWindow's properties, so that they may be applied at run-time on the client side. After an end user has entered in the input desired, the changes are determined by the client-side DataWindow component and flushed back to the server-side DataWindow component at the application server. The server-side DataWindow component, in turn, can effect the changes to the back end database, as appropriate.

Java-based data access object

A visual development environment is described which provides drag-and-drop code editing methodology, using Reference Card and Parameter Wizard methodologies. A Reference Card provides quick information on the most important classes and member functions, within one's code. During a session, the user may use the Reference Card to select an action that the user wants to perform. The user can search through a hierarchy of actions or perform a text search to locate the desired action, then open the Parameter Wizard to create the code (e.g., C&plus;&plus; code) required to perform that action. The Reference Card also provides help on all the items listed. The Parameter Wizard, which operates in conjunction with the Reference Card, guides the user through the construction of function calls. This is particularly useful for complicated functions or for functions with which the user is unfamiliar. The Parameter Wizard helps the user construct a function call by showing what argument values are required. The Parameter Wizard can also store function results in a specified variable. Using this drag-and-drop methodology, users can create program code with minimal user input or understanding.
