A media processing system is described capable of integrating a large set of heterogeneous electronic devices into a single integrated system with enhanced navigation capabilities and automated configuration services. Techniques to customize a media processing system

In an embodiment, a plurality of categories may be presented in a first ribbon on an electronic display. The plurality of categories may be scrollable through an active category slot in a fixed position in the first ribbon. A category positioned in the active category slot may be determined from the plurality of categories. A plurality of media objects may be presented based on the category. The plurality of media objects may be positioned in a second ribbon and scrollable through an active media object slot in a fixed position in the second ribbon. Techniques for a display navigation system

Various embodiments are directed to systems and methods for determining the current state of multiple devices that form the basis of a home entertainment system. A user may be utilizing one or more devices in the home entertainment system when an interruption occurs which may divert the user's attention away from the home entertainment system for an extended period of time. In such circumstances, the user may wish to easily store the settings of all the devices currently in use such that the session can be saved for future recall. There is no need to remember the individual device settings. The session may be stored and associated with a graphical user interface (GUI) icon and made available for later recall. When the user returns, she simply may select the GUI icon for the particular session to be restored. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for object based operations may include identifying one or more objects in a multimedia stream. The one or more objects may be classified. An operation may be performed based on the classification of the one or more objects. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for object based operations

An apparatus may include a housing that has a substantially equiaxed shape. The apparatus may include a motion sensor that detects a rotational state of the apparatus and a processor that produces control signals based upon the rotational state. Remote control device

An apparatus may include a processor and a touch sensing device coupled to the processor. The apparatus may further include a force determining module operative on the processor to receive a detection signal from a first portion of the touch sensing device, determine a contact area at the first portion based upon the detection signal, map the first portion to a target operation, and send control instructions to perform the target operation based on the contact area.

Touch sensing apparatus and method

An apparatus may include a processor and a device state management module. The device state management module may be operative on the processor to receive a trigger signal from a motion sensor in a remote control, to determine the device state of one or more controlled devices and send state management instructions to be transmitted to the one or more controlled devices. The state management instructions may control a set of initial default operations that comprises altering one or more device states in the one or more controlled devices. Intelligent remote control system

A system and method for the aggregation, standardization and extension of social networking contacts to enhance a television consumer experience are described. An embodiment of a system includes a device connected to one or more devices with social networking technology. The device is accessed by a user to invite one or more contacts to join an aggregated social network via an aggregated social networking contact list. The aggregated social networking contact list is to include all contacts associated with the one or more social networking technology devices. The device is to receive and store aggregated social network content and to receive main content. The device is to cause the display of the stored aggregated social network content overlayed on the main content via a user interface on a display device. Aggregration, standardization and extension of social networking contacts to enhance a television consumer experience

A remote control device is configured to select predetermined content prior to providing the remote control device to a media consumer, and provided to the media consumer such that the media consumer associates the remote control device with the predetermined content. In one embodiment, the remote control device is configured to select at least one predetermined content and has a form that identifies the predetermined content for the media consumer.
