A shear connector includes a plug connector having front and rear insert portions on opposite sides of the shear plane that are held together by a shear bolt scored to shear at a predetermined force, and which is threaded directly into openings in the rear insert in such a way as to eliminate relative movement between the shear bolts and the rear insert during shearing. Pin contact sections extending rearwardly from the front insert are scored at the shear plane to shear at a predetermined force. By varying clearances between the pin contact sections and the sides of the openings of the rear insert into which the pin contact sections extend, groups of contacts can be made to shear at different times, thereby reducing the force required to shear each group without unduly weakening the contacts.

High density shear connector

An electrical coupling assembly is disclosed having a receptacle portion attached to an electrical connector element and releasably attached to a housing, affixed to the opposite electrical connector portion, by engagement of a latching ball on the housing with a latching detent formed on the receptacle. Axial movement of an operating sleeve, with respect to the housing facilitates the coupling and decoupling of the housing and the receptacle. The operating sleeve is spring biased to assume a position with respect to the housing retaining the coupling portions together. A force exerted on a lanyard attached to the sleeve axially moves the sleeve with respect to the housing to decouple the coupling elements. A lanyard guide ring is attached to the housing and has an opening through which the lanyard passes such that the portion of the lanyard extending between the guide ring and the operating sleeve extends in a generally axial direction. The direction of force exerted on the sleeve by the lanyard will always be in a substantially axial direction. The coupling includes a mechanism for disengaging the electrical connector portions before allowing the coupling elements to separate.

Quick-release electrical connector coupling device

The invention described is a plastic electrical connector characterized by a coupling ring 1 having two elongated apertures 11 and 14, one of which 14 receives a pin 21 on another housing 2. The elongated aperture 11 allows the portion 16 between the apertures 11 and 14 to deflect when the pin 21 travels between recesses 15 in one side of aperture 14 thereby providing a bias against the coupling ring 1 that helps to prevent accidental uncoupling of the housings 2 and 3.

Electrical connector coupling member

An electrical connector assembly that is readily coupled or uncoupled is provided with means for retarding premature uncoupling thereof. The connector assembly comprises a first shell 100 having a flange 140 thereabout and bosses 111 on the periphery thereof adjacent the flange, and a coupling nut 300 that has stop members 311 on the inner wall thereof. A spring 500 is situate between the flange 140 of the first shell 100 and the end wall 305 of the coupling nut, with the stop members preventing rotational movement of the spring 500 relative to the coupling nut 300, while the bosses 111 retard movement of the spring 500 relative to the first shell 100.

Electrical connector assembly having anti-decoupling device

An electrical connector assembly, wherein contacts contained therein are shielded from electromagnetic interference. A coupling nut 300 unites a first metal shell 100 having a flange 140 thereabout, with the flange 140 having a first groove 180 formed in the face thereof, and a cooperating groove 190 formed about the periphery of the front section of the shell 100, and a second metal shell 200 having an end wall 220. A metal to metal contact is assured between the flange 140 of the first shell 100 and the end wall 220 of the second shell by means of a resilient metal strap 500 positioned with said grooves, with the leg portion 510 in first groove 180 in contact with the end wall 220 and the stem portion 520 situated in cooperating groove 190 contacting the front section of the first shell 100 and front section of the second shell 200. The strap 500 is preferably formed with grooves 530 therein, adjacent grooves 530 extending from opposite sides of the strap to give the strap 500 a sinuous shape.

Electrical connector assembly having means for shielding against

An electrical connector is disclosed with a coupling nut (14) of the bayonet type for the connector bodies (10, 12) and an improved locking means (16) for the coupling nut. A resilient detent element (82) is disposed in a bayonet ramp groove (54) of the coupling nut (14) so as to be deflected and engaged by the corresponding bayonet pin (32) on one of the connector bodies when the coupling nut is tightened sufficiently to draw the connector bodies into abutting relationship.

Electrical connector with locking means

An electrical connector assembly having a plastic coupling nut 30 and housing 20 that includes an axially extending projection 26 that is mateable with a slot 35 when the coupling nut is threaded to the housing. This arrangement provides pressure on the fully mated threads that restricts uncoupling of the threads when subject to vibration. It also provides visual indication as to whether or not the coupling nut is completely threaded upon the housing.

Electrical connector

A pair of mateable units with polarizing means for controlling mateability of the units comprising a member rotatably mounted on each of the units one of the members having an extension of predetermined shape and the other member having a recess of predetermined complementary shape for receiving the extension on the one member. The members each have a slot in one end for receiving a screw driver to rotate the members to adjusted position without removing, resetting and reassembling small components.
