A vehicle hood-mounting arrangement includes a hinge member and an actuator for rotating the hinge member about a first axis of rotation. The hinge member is attached to a vehicle hood at a second axis of rotation. During rotation between a fully opened position and a fully closed position, the vehicle hood translates horizontally and forwardly. Preferably, the vehicle hood mounting arrangement also includes an H-shaped linkage for supporting and stabilizing the vehicle hood.

A pickup truck has a vertically movable tailgate assembly. The tailgate assembly includes a rigid cross beam along with a flexible net. The tailgate is automatically moved along a track from its raised to its lowered position.

A pickup truck has a retractable roof panel moving from a substantially horizontal use position to a substantially vertical storage position behind the passenger seat within the cab. The roof panel is automatically moved along a track from its horizontal to vertical position.
