A fastener driving apparatus including an air compressor configured to generate pressurized air at a first pressure level, a drop down air regulator configured to reduce the pressurized air from being at the first pressure level to being at a reduced second pressure level, and a pneumatically powered fastener driving tool configured to receive the pressurized air at the desired reduced pressure level to enable the pneumatically powered fastener driving tool to drive one or more fasteners (such as one or more nails) into an object and a substrate at the desired positions in that object and substrate.

Fastener driving apparatus and methods

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a workpiece-contact element for a fastener pusher. In one embodiment, the workpiece-contact element includes an attachment side, a workpiece-contact surface, and one or more fastener-exit surfaces defining a fastener-exit throughbore having a longitudinal axis and extending through the workpiece-contact surface. The workpiece-contact surface forms an annular protrusion extending away from the attachment side.

Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a nail with a head having an inwardly curved top surface. In one embodiment, the nail has a longitudinal axis and comprises a head, a shank, and a tip. The head includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion includes an inwardly curved top surface forming a partially spherical cavity, while the bottom portion includes a radially inwardly tapered annular bottom surface. The shank is integrally connected to and extends from the bottom portion of the head. The tip is integrally connected to and extends from the shank and terminates in a free end.

The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tool actuation device comprising a housing configured to be attached to a pneumatic tool, a piston slidably moveable within a drive chamber formed within the housing and an air inlet chamber formed within housing and configured to accept a pressurized gas and direct it to the drive chamber. The piston further comprises an O-ring disposed in an annular groove formed in the piston and forming a seal between the piston and the drive chamber. The housing is removably attached to an opening near a trigger valve pin. The air inlet chamber is operably connected to a hose through which a pressurized gas travels and enters the housing to move the piston. The movement of the piston directly actuates the trigger valve pin located in the pneumatic tool.

A fastener-driving tool has a cam-actuated pneumatic switch mechanism system operatively incorporated thereon which is adapted to control the timed driving or discharge of fasteners out from a hand-held fastener-driving tool and into a substrate at predeterminedly spaced positions with respect to each other. The arrangement is particularly adapted for use in connection with the driving of fasteners into corner regions of structural workpieces, although the same may also be used to drive fasteners into flat planar surfaces.

A fastener-driving tool is provided with a cap assembly which includes a switch mechanism that permits the tool to be operated in one of two firing modes of operation. The switch mechanism comprises a two-position switch mechanism such that when the switch mechanism is disposed at a first one of its two positions, the tool will be able to operate in a fully automatic continuous firing mode of operation so as to continuously fire fasteners into a substrate as long as the workpiece contact element and the trigger mechanism are disposed at their depressed positions, or alternatively, when the switch mechanism is disposed at the second one of the two positions, the tool can be operated in a one-shot firing mode such that the tool can only fire a single fastener, either in accordance with, for example, a sequential-firing mode of operation or a bump-firing mode of operation, until the trigger mechanism is released and again depressed.
