A chuck including: (a) a main body; (b) three slot-defining members each constituted by a member independent of the main body and defining therein a guide slot, and detachably attached to the main body; (c) three jaws each including (c-1) a fitted portion slidably fitted in the guide slot defined in the corresponding slot-defining member and (c-2) an engaging portion which projects from the fitted portion in an axial direction and which is configured to engage with a circumferential surface of an object that is to be held by the chuck; and (d) three pairs of pressing members detachably fixed to the three slot-defining members. Each pair of the three pairs of pressing members engage with the fitted portion of the corresponding jaw, for thereby preventing separation of the fitted portion of the corresponding jaw from the guide slot defined in the slot-defining member.

High precision chuck with centering function

In an internal machining apparatus for machining an internal surface of a hollow workpiece, a machining unit holding a cutting blade is configured to be inserted into the hollow workpiece. A pair of unit holding arbors which are capable of non-rotatably holding the machining unit, inserted in the hollow workpiece, at both sides thereof are respectively supported by a work head and a foot stock to advance and retract in an axial direction thereof. A turning mechanism is provided to be supplied with a drive power transmitted through the interior of one of the unit holding arbors for turning the cutting blade held on the machining unit about an axis orthogonal to an axis of the unit holding arbors.

Internal machining apparatus for hollow workpiece

A pipe cutting machine comprises a clamping device for holding a pipe to be cut and a pipe cutting apparatus for cutting the pipe by revolving a rotating disc-like cutting blade around the circumferential surface of the pipe held by the clamping device. The pipe cutting apparatus is provided with a revolution motion member of an annular shape rotatably supported by a support member secured to a main frame thereof for revolving a cutting blade around a pipe to be cut; an arm pivotally supported on one side surface of the revolution motion member at one end thereof and rotatably carrying the cutting blade at the other end thereof; a swing motion member of an annular shape rotatably supported by the support member in axial alignment with the revolution motion member for swinging the arm; a rotation motion member of an annular shape rotatably supported by the support member in axial alignment with the revolution motion member for rotating the cutting blade; and plural motors mounted on the main frame for respectively rotating the revolution motion member, the swing motion member and the rotation motion member through driving belts.

Pipe cutting machine

A crankpin lath is improved in positioning a crankpin onto the axis of work spindles precisely and in a short period of time by the use of simple and low-cost mechanisms. Indexing a crankpin to be machined next onto the axis of the work spindles is initiated in the state that journals of a crankshaft are clamped on index members which are rotatably supported respectively on work spindles with the axes thereof being offset by an eccentricity of crankpins from the axis of the work spindles. First, a clutch device interposed between each of the work spindle and the index member carried thereon is brought into disengagement. Then, a pin pusher is advanced toward the axis of the work spindle as it pushes a machined crankpin of the crankshaft and is positioned to a position spaced by a predetermined distance from the axis of the work spindle while the work spindle is rotated by half an angle through which the crankshaft is to be indexed rotationally. Thereafter, the clutch device is brought into engagement to complete the indexing operation.
