The invention of the present application addresses the problem of providing a binder for electrochemical cells which exhibits sufficient adhesive properties with respect to collectors and active materials, which is electrochemically stable, which is not readily swelled by electrolytes, and with which battery cycle characteristic can be sufficiently improved. Accordingly, provided is a binder for electrochemical cells which comprises a polyolefin copolymer (A) including structural units derived from an olefin, and structural units derived from (meth)acrylic acid. The carboxylic acid included in the structural units derived from the (meth)acrylic acid is neutralized by at least one non-volatile alkali compound and at least one volatile alkali compound.

Provided are an electrode for a lithium battery that is capable of providing a lithium battery having both high stability and high battery properties; a process for producing an electrode for a lithium battery, in which a positive electrode plate and/or a negative electrode plate, even when coated with a thermal activation material dissolved in an organic solvent such as a pyrrolidone-based solvent, is prevented from swelling; and a lithium battery including said electrode for a lithium battery. The electrode for a lithium battery includes an electrode plate, a mix layer and a heat insulating layer in this order, wherein the mix layer includes at least an aqueous adhesive and an active material; the heat insulating layer includes at least a thermal activation material; and at least part of the mix layer is in contact with at least part of the heat insulating layer.

An aqueous thermosetting composition comprising an amino resin (A) obtained by addition dehydration condensation of an amino compound (a), an aldehyde (b) and an alcohol (c) and a urethane resin (B) obtained by polymerization of an isocyanate (d), a polyol (e) and an oxycarboxylic acid (f) having two or more hydroxyl groups. The aqueous thermosetting composition of the present invention contains both an amino resin and a urethane resin in a one-pack hardener, and the respective performances of the resins can be retained without any deterioration. Further, the aqueous thermosetting composition exhibits favorable dispersibility in water and excels in storage stability, so that it is useful in a wide spectrum of application fields, such as paint, ink, adhesive, coating material, binder and primer.
