An ECU includes a deviation calculating circuit an assist control circuit, an automatic steering control circuit including an intervention determination switching circuit, an adder, a current command value calculating circuit The intervention determination switching circuit includes a count amount calculating circuit, an adder, an immediately-preceding count amount output circuit, a switching determination circuit, and an output switching circuit. The count amount calculating circuit calculates a count amount having a positive value or a negative value based on a steering torque absolute value calculated by an absolute value switching circuit. The adder calculates a total count amount that is the total sum of a presently calculated count amount and an immediately-preceding count amount calculated in an immediately-preceding calculation cycle. The switching determination circuit determines a driver's intention to intervene in steering, based on whether the total count amount is equal to or greater than a count amount threshold value.

Vehicle controller

The actuator control device includes an assist control circuit for calculating a first assist component and an automatic steering control circuit for calculating a second assist component. The automatic steering control circuit is allowed to calculate the second assist component while a steering torque is less than a first threshold value. The automatic steering control circuit calculates the second assist component by performing PID control that uses an integral term obtained on the basis of an angle deviation. When the steering torque is less than the first threshold value but not less than a second threshold value, the automatic steering control circuit limits the integral term in such a manner that it is harder for the integral term to increase while the steering torque is not less than the second threshold value than while the steering torque is less than the second threshold value.

Actuator control device

When a steering speed reaches a steering speed determination threshold, a steering speed gain is set to '0'. As a result, a final basic assist controlled variable becomes '0', and application of an assist force to a steering system is stopped. Therefore, repetition of so-called reverse assist that is a cause of occurrence of an unintended steering behavior, such as self-excited vibration, is stopped. Accordingly, the steering behavior is improved.

Electric power steering system

When only one of sensor signals generated by the plural systems and output from a torque sensor is normal, a control variable restriction processing part performs an assist restricting process for setting an upper limit value and a lower limit value of a basic assist control variable in accordance with at least one of the lateral acceleration, the steering angle, the steering speed, or the yaw rate.

Electronic power steering apparatus

An ECU controls the operation of an EPS actuator in order to periodically apply instantaneous motor torque to a steering system when assist continuation control is executed using a sensor signal (residual sensor signal) that is output by a sensor element in which an abnormality has not been detected, regardless of the application of an assist force. The ECU also detects an abnormality in the residual sensor signal based on whether the application of instantaneous motor torque is reflected in the residual sensor signal, which is the basis of the assist continuation control.

Electric power steering device and sensor abnormality detection device

An electric power steering system includes short-circuit determination means for determining whether a short-circuit between an energization failure phase and one of the two phases other than the energization failure phase has occurred while assist force is being generated using the two phases other than the energization failure phase as energization phases.
