A method for providing an image of a biological sample is disclosed. The method includes: obtaining an image of at least one biological sample; positioning the image of the at least one biological sample; assessing the image of the at least one biological sample; automatically segmenting the image of the at least one biological sample; while simultaneously determining a region of interest of the at least one biological sample; responsive to obtaining the image of the at least one biological sample and a control parameter of the at least one biological sample; and receiving the region of interest and providing an indication of a location of the region of interest.

System and method for the automated analysis of cellular assays and tissues

This invention provides an automated system and method that allows a user to track the movement of an object, such as at least one cell amongst a plurality of cells as it moves from one point to another over time in order for the user to determine how the at least one cell functions. The user is able to track the movement of the at least one cell and determine if the at least one cell structure has changed, such as the at least one cell experiencing cell division or if two or more cells merge together. This user is able to optimally track the at least one cell to find an approximate location of at least one the cell as it moves in time and distance. Thus, this invention provides the user with a means to track cell movement to study the cell function.

A computer-implemented method of performing image processing for images of biological objects includes: storing definitions of a plurality of descriptors; receiving image data relating to an image of a reference population of biological objects; receiving image data relating to an image of a target population of biological objects; processing the reference population image data to obtain a reference set of measurements, containing data for each of the descriptors; processing the target population image data to obtain a target set of measurements, containing data for each of the descriptors; and selecting a combination of the descriptors on the basis of comparing the reference set with the target set to define a preferred combination of the descriptors for use in identifying characteristics of a further population of biological objects which are similar to those of the target population.
