A device for simulating the movements of and representing rotation symmetrical bodies, such as planets, particularly for use in planetaria, comprising a reflecting member centrally inserted between two illumination systems. The reflecting member is provided with two reflecting faces carrying a step arrangement and including an angle of 90.degree. with one another. Each of the reflecting faces includes an angle of 45.degree. with an optical axis and lies in an intermediate plane into which slide photos of bodies to be reproduced are imaged. The reflecting member is displaceably and tiltably arranged and is followed by an image fusing lens. Furthermore, adjacent to the slide photos occulting members are provided.

Device for simulating the movements of and representing rotation

This invention relates to an optical system for lantern slide projection, especially for star projectors in planetariums, with the aim of increasing the available light for the projection. The development consists in attaining an increase in brightness and brilliance of the image as well as a reduction in heat generation in the apparatus, through the application of resonator principles. The optical system comprises light sources, condensing lenses which reproduce the lamp filament, and the objective which reproduces the original. A resonator of high transparency which has highly reflective and/or totally reflective boundary surfaces is provided between condensing lens and objective. The boundary surface facing the condensing lens has a light-entrance opening comprising the lamp filament or the image of the lamp filament. The boundary surface lying opposite to that area preferably comprises the original to be projected. The resonator is formed as a glass or hollow body with circular, elliptical or multi-faceted cross-section or as a polyhedron, hollow polyhedron or ball.

Optical system for lantern slide projection

The invention relates to a planet projecting system for simulating the motions of planets and in particular for visualizing the rotations and the phase changes of the Earth. The planet projecting system comprises two cylindrical image mounts which rotate independently of each other, the curved surface of one cylindrical mount is provided with an image of the planet, the curved surface of the other cylindrical mount carries an image of clouds. Two illumination systems illuminate the two image mounts and via respective means the images are projected upon the dome of a planetarium. The spheric shape of a planet is effected by a distortion optical system inserted into the projection beam.

Planet projection

The invention is in concern of an arrangement for producing artificial rainbows, particularly for use in planetaria, in which a bundle of light emitted from a light source and directed through an aperture upon a prism is dispersed by the latter and reflected at a cylindrical reflector. Due to the reflection at the cylindrical reflector the projected light bundle is of a rainbow shape, the radius thereof depends on the position of the cylindrical reflector relative to the prism.
