A system, method, and apparatus for tuning an operating frequency of turbines blades may be provided. Multiple blades having tip shrouds may be provided. The blades may extend radially outward from an axis of rotation of the blades. A tip shroud of each blade may be located at a radial end of the blades. The tip shrouds may have side faces that interlock with faces of adjacent tip shrouds. In addition, some tip shrouds may have one or more gaps between some side faces of consecutive tip shrouds.

Frequency tuning option for turbine blades

A turbine blade assembly may be provided for use in a gas turbine engine. The turbine blade assembly may include an airfoil and a tip shroud. The airfoil may extend radially outward from an axis of rotation of the airfoil. The tip shroud may be located at a radial end of the airfoil. The tip shroud may include a seal rail that extends in a direction of rotation of the airfoil. A notch, including a Z-notch or a V-notch, may be situated on a first side of the seal rail at an end of the seal rail. A variable fillet may be situated on a second side of the seal rail that is opposite of the first side on which the notch is situated. The variable fillet is a fillet having a curvature that varies along a length of the second side.

A turbine bucket adapted to be supported on a turbine or rotor wheel includes an airfoil portion extending radially relative to a longitudinal axis of the rotor wheel and having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a pressure side and a suction side. At least one tip shroud extends in opposite circumferential directions, the shroud having a first hard face adapted to engage a mating second hard face on a shroud extending circumferentially from an adjacent bucket. The first hard face defined by a surface portion that varies circumferentially with an increasing radius as measured from the longitudinal axis of the rotor wheel.

A cooled turbine blade comprises a root for fixing the blade to rotor, an airfoil extending along a radial axis from the root, and a tip shroud disposed at a radially outward end of the airfoil. The tip shroud extends in a circumferential direction from the airfoil and defines, within itself, a core plenum and a peripheral plenum. The airfoil defines an aft airfoil cooling passage that extends radially through the airfoil proximate a trailing edge portion of the airfoil. The airfoil also defines an aft cooling inlet for providing an aft stream of cooling fluid to the aft airfoil cooling passage. The airfoil also defines at least one aft cooling exit for discharging the aft stream of cooling fluid from the aft airflow cooling passage to the peripheral plenum. The tip shroud defines at least one peripheral plenum vent for discharging the aft stream of cooling fluid.

A turbine bucket is provided including a bucket airfoil having an airfoil shape, the bucket airfoil having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in Table 1 wherein the Z values are non-dimensional values from 0% to 100% convertible to Z distances in inches by multiplying the Z values by a height of the airfoil in inches and adding the radius of the airfoil base, and wherein X and Y are distances in inches which, when connected by smooth continuing arcs, define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z, the profile sections at the Z distances being joined smoothly with one another to form a complete airfoil shape.
