There is disclosed a method for reducing cross talk between first and second cables in a data transmission system, each of the cables comprised of a pair of conductors. The method comprises the steps of providing a first contact interconnected with a first conductor of the pair of conductors of the first cable, wherein the first contact emits a first signal, providing a pair of contacts, each of the pair of contacts interconnected with a different conductor of the pair of conductors of the second cable, and positioning the first contact relative to the pair of contacts such that an amplitude of the signal received at one of the second pair of contacts is substantially the same as an amplitude of the signal received at another of the second pair of contacts.

Crosstalk reducing conductor and contact configuration in a communication system

There is disclosed conductor and connector configurations for use in communications systems which take advantage of the orientation and positioning of adjacent balanced pairs of conductors to reduce cross talk. These conductor and connector configurations may be used to reduce cross talk between adjacent balanced pairs of a single transmission path, or to reduce alien cross talk between adjacent balanced pairs located in different transmission paths.

A telecommunications cable comprising four twisted pairs of conductors and a separator spline comprised of a principal dividing strip and a first subsidiary dividing strip attached longitudinally along a first side of the principal dividing strip and a second dividing strip attached longitudinally along a second side of the principal dividing strip, the spline separating the four twisted pairs such that they are arranged in a staggered configuration. A method for reducing cross talk between adjacent cables in a telecommunications system, the method comprising the steps of, for each of the cables, providing a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors, winding an elongate filler element around the twisted pairs and covering the twisted pairs and the element with a cable jacket, the element introducing a visible distortion into an outer surface of the jacket.

High performance telecommunications cable

A telecommunications cable and separator spline. In one example the cable includes a cable jacket defining an elongate cable core, a conductor assembly including four twisted pairs of conductors disposed along the core and a plurality of parallel elongate localized and like distensions in an inner surface of the cable jacket. The distensions are substantially evenly spaced about an inner surface of the cable jacket. In one example, the distensions are the result of a series of filler elements placed between the cable jacket and the cable core and which wind helicoidally along and about the cable core. The separator spline includes first and second elongate dividing strips having a substantially H shaped cross section and arranged side by side, and twists helicoidally along its length. In one example the separator spline and the insulation surrounding the twisted pairs of conductors is manufactured form a material having the same dielectric constant.

Web for separating conductors in a communication cable

A telecommunications cable having a cable jacket defining an elongate cable core, a conductor assembly comprising four twisted pairs of conductors disposed along the core and parallel elongate distensions formed on an inner surface of the cable jacket. The distensions are spaced about an inner surface of the cable jacket and prevent the conductor assembly from coming into contact with the inner surface. The distensions can be the result of a series of filler elements placed between the cable jacket and the cable core and which wind helicoidally along and about the cable core. A separator spline has first and second elongate dividing strips having a substantially H shaped cross section and arranged side by side. The spline twists helicoidally along its length. The separator spline and the insulation surrounding the twisted pairs of conductors can be manufactured form a material having the same dielectric constant.

A high performance data cable comprises first and second insulated conductors, each disposed in a respective first layer of insulation and a second layer of insulation covering the first and second insulated conductors and maintaining the first and second insulated conductors to one another. The first and second insulated conductors and the second layer of insulation are twisted about a common central axis to form a twisted pair unit.

Dual-insulated, fixed together pair of conductors

An insulated wire for use in a communications cable, the wire comprising a conductor, at least one inner insulating layer surrounding the conductor, and an outer layer surrounding the insulating layers. At least one of the inner layers is a nano-composite comprising nano-sized platelets and a flame and smoke retardant additive package dispersed in a polyolefin matrix. The outer layer is substantially resistant to flame spread and smoke evolution, substantially impermeable to moisture and moisture absorption and has a dielectric constant lower than about 2.5 and a dissipation coefficient lower than about 0.001 at frequencies up to about 650 MegaHertz.

Communications cable

The present invention includes a twisted pair cable having a plurality of pairs, wherein each has two conductors. Each of the conductors is covered with an inner layer insulator and an outer layer insulator, wherein the positioning of the conductors within the inner and outer insulators is eccentric with respect to the inner and outer insulators. This invention also includes a method of making a cable of the same configuration.
