In order to enhance the enjoyment of assembling a puzzle of the three-dimensional type, a puzzle is disclosed in the form of a building-like structure having walls to be joined at corners thereof. The puzzle includes a plurality of wall pieces capable of interlocking in a plane to form walls of the building-like structure. It is also contemplated that each of the wall pieces will have peripheral male and female contours capable of interlocking engagement to form a portion of a wall. The puzzle further includes at least one corner piece capable of joining a pair of walls at a corner of the building-like structure. It is also contemplated that the corner piece will be formed so as to have a groove in a backing material opposite an image-bearing outer surface of the same types which are also to be used for each of the wall pieces. With this understanding of the components of the puzzle, the groove in the corner piece has a depth dimension sufficient for folding the corner piece to form a corner for the building-like jigsaw puzzle structure.

Three dimensional puzzle

In order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of forming a groove in a board, an apparatus and method are disclosed. The apparatus includes a station for feeding the board from a supply of boards, a table for supporting the board upon receipt from the feeding station, a cutter for forming the groove while the board is supported by the table, and a station for removing the board after the groove has been formed. It is among the unique aspects of the disclosure that the table is moved relative to the cutter such that a grooved board can be removed from the table with the material defining the groove having been separated therefrom just after another board on the table has been grooved. The method includes the steps of feeding the board from a supply of boards at a feeding station, supporting the board after the board has been fed from the feeding station, forming the groove in the board while the board is being supported, and removing the board after forming the groove at a removing station. With the unique features of the disclosure, it is possible to cut a plurality of V-shaped grooves in a board of foam having a puzzle facing material thereon to form foldable corner pieces for a three-dimensional puzzle.

Apparatus and method for forming a groove in a board

In order to sell a multi-media product such as documentation and software in an effective yet unique manner, a convertible package/shelf organizer is provided. The convertible package/shelf organizer comprises a generally rectangular box having a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and a pair of side walls defining an enclosure for shipping the contents of the box in a normal protected-product fashion. The front wall of the box is in the form of a cover hinged to one of the top and bottom walls and is movable from a closed position concealing and protecting the contents of the box during shipment to an open position providing access for removal of the contents of the box after shipment. The convertible package/shelf organizer is also such that the cover is moveable to a position within the enclosure juxtaposed against an inner surface of the one of the top and bottom walls to which it is hinged and also against the rear wall when the contents of the box have been removed therefrom. In addition, the convertible package/self organizer is such that the cover can be locked in a position to accommodate replacement of the contents of the box for visibly displaying them in shelf organizer fashion therewithin.
