An aircraft fuel system comprises a fuel manifold adapter interchangeably connectable between respective fuel manifolds and flow divider valves of different aircraft engine platforms. The adapter has a body having an input interface and an output interface. The input interface is rigidly connectable via a rigid supply line to the flow divider valve of a given one of the different engine platforms so as to locate the output interface in axial alignment with a nozzle-input interface of the fuel manifold of the given one of the engine platforms. The output interface is axially slidably engaged with an upstream-tube end of a linear transfer tube having a downstream-tube end slidably engaged with the nozzle-input interface. The output interface of the adapter and the nozzle-input interface are slidably engaged and thermally decoupled via the linear transfer tube.

Fuel manifold adapter

A fuel system of an aircraft engine, has: a fuel manifold having a first manifold inlet and a second manifold inlet; a transfer tube assembly having a first tube slidably engaged to the fuel manifold and fluidly connected to the first manifold inlet, and a second tube slidably engaged to the fuel manifold and fluidly connected to the second manifold inlet; and an adaptor having: a body slidably engaged by the first tube and by the second tube, a first member defining a first fuel conduit fluidly connected to the first manifold inlet via the first tube, and a second member defining a second fuel conduit fluidly connected to the second manifold inlet via the second tube.

Adaptor for a fuel system of an aircraft engine

A method of positioning exits of diffuser pipes of a centrifugal compressor in an aircraft engine includes aligning an alignment tool with a structure supporting the diffuser pipes, and rotating each diffuser pipe about an inlet axis thereof to close a gap between a surface of the diffuser pipe and part of the alignment tool until the diffuser pipe abuts the part of the alignment tool. The alignment tool includes for example a body defining a center axis and having at least one tool datum configured for abutting against the casing, and a plurality of alignment members that are fixed to the body and extend radially from the body relative to the center axis.

An aircraft engine has: a compressor section having a compressor rotor rotatable about a central axis; a diffuser downstream of the compressor rotor, the diffuser including a diffuser ring extending circumferentially around the central axis; a bearing housing secured to the diffuser ring, the bearing housing contained within a volume located radially inwardly of the diffuser ring; and an air manifold secured to the diffuser ring, the air manifold defining inlets in fluid flow communication with the compressor section and an outlet in fluid flow communication with the volume.

A fuel manifold adapter for a fuel system of an aircraft engine, the fuel manifold adapter comprising: a body having a body-output interface defining a downstream end of a body passage including a body bore about a bore axis, the body-output interface movably and fluidly connectable to a first component of the fuel system mounted to a first mounting point of the engine, and a body-input interface defining an upstream end of the body passage, the body-input interface rigidly and fluidly connectable to a second component of the fuel system mounted to a second mounting point of the engine, and a transfer tube having an upstream-tube end slidably engaged with the body along the bore axis via the body bore, the transfer tube having a downstream-tube end opposite the upstream-tube end slidably engageable along the bore axis with the first component, the downstream-tube end defining a downstream end of the fuel manifold adapter relative to fuel flow through the fuel manifold adapter.

A transfer tube assembly comprises a transfer tube slidably engaged in sealing engagement with a first component. The transfer tube has a shoulder engageable with a stopper for limiting relative axial movement between the transfer tube and the first component. The shoulder has an abutment surface facing a corresponding bore surface of the first bore of the first component. The abutment surface and the bore surface are configured to generate axially opposing reaction forces in response to the abutment surface and the bore surface contacting each other.

Transfer tube assembly

An alignment tool for aligning a plurality of diffuser pipes of a centrifugal compressor relative to a casing of an aircraft engine. The alignment tool includes a body defining a center axis and having at least one tool datum configured for abutting against the casing. A plurality of alignment members are fixed to the body and extend radially from the body relative to the center axis. Each alignment member of the plurality of alignment members has a respective fixed position relative to the at least one tool datum. The plurality of alignment members are configured to abut the plurality of diffuser pipes.
