A computer management apparatus, method and computer program operable for displaying a data file on a client computer, wherein the data file comprises a structure file and a first plurality of data elements, the apparatus comprising: a send component operable for sending a first message comprising a request for the structure file; a receive component operable for receiving the structure file; an evaluate component operable for determining a second plurality of data elements, wherein the second plurality of data elements is associated with a visible area; a send component further operable for sending a second message, wherein the second message comprises a request for the second plurality of data elements; a receive component further operable for receiving the second plurality of data elements; and a display component, responsive to receipt of the second plurality of data elements, operable for displaying the second plurality of data elements in the visible area.

Requesting computer data assets

An interface is provided between a receiving component of a server application and a remote application, the receiving component being operable to receive serialized objects from the remote application via the interface. The interface comprises: a module for ascertaining if a piece of code associated with the received object is locally stored and directly available to the server application, and a store for locally storing the associated piece of code in the event that it is not already locally stored and directly available to the server application.

A server computer system comprising: means for permitting a first and a second version of a component or application to run on the server computer system simultaneously; means for identifying one of the versions as currently applicable and the other as not currently applicable; and means for connecting a requesting client to the currently applicable version in response to a request by the client to access the component or application.

A processing system for assisting computer programs running in a distributed computer system is disclosed, the processing system including: a detector for detecting that a running program has encountered a problem caused by not having direct access to another piece of code; a requisitioner for obtaining the other piece of code from another part of the system; and a controller for controlling the computer to re-run the program from a point before the problem was encountered, in such a way that it has the necessary direct access to the other piece of code.

Server computer component

The present invention provides for reducing power consumption of a positioning system having wireless beacons. A wireless transmitter static beacon is provided, which has a known position, signal strength, and range. A mobile device is positioned within the range of the static beacon and its position is determined based on a signal from the static beacon. Foreign wireless transmitter devices and their locations are detected. The immobility of the foreign devices is evaluated by periodically determining their positions and calculating the frequency with which their positions change, and by determining the devices' types. A subset of the foreign devices that are immobile are selected and amalgamated into the positioning system based on device type and position-changing frequency. The signal strength of the static beacon is reduced, which in turn reduces the range of the static beacon. The mobile device is no longer positioned in the static beacon's range, but it is positioned within the range of the new subset of foreign devices. The mobile device's position is determined with increased accuracy based on a signal from the subset of new foreign devices.
