A floor cleaning machine including a handle that pivots relative to a base about a pivot axis. A recovery tank is coupled to the handle in fluid communication with a suction motor assembly to receive and store fluid and dirt drawn through a suction nozzle. The floor cleaning machine further includes an expandable hose fluidly communicating the recovery tank and the suction nozzle. The hose is in an expanded configuration when the handle is pivoted about the pivot axis to a reclined position. The hose is in a retracted configuration when the handle is pivoted about the pivot axis to a substantially upright position. The hose at least partially wraps around the pivot axis with the pivot axis being between a portion of the hose wrapped around the pivot axis and the surface being cleaned in the expanded and the retracted configurations.

Surface cleaning apparatus

A surface cleaning device including a head including an inlet in fluid communication with a fluid tank and a suction source. The inlet is configured to receive a cleaning fluid from a surface. The head further includes an inlet extension member that at least partially surrounds the inlet, the inlet extension member including an opening and the inlet extension member movable with respect to the inlet between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the inlet is closer to the surface than the opening of the inlet extension member and in the second position, the opening of the inlet extension member is closer to the surface than the inlet.

Head for a surface cleaning device

A floor cleaning machine including a base including a suction nozzle and a distribution nozzle, a handle pivotably coupled to the base about a pivot axis, a supply tank assembly coupled to the handle, and a suction motor assembly in fluid communication with the suction nozzle. The floor cleaning machine further includes a recovery tank coupled to the handle in fluid communication with the suction motor assembly to receive and store fluid and dirt drawn through the suction nozzle and an expandable hose fluidly communicating the recovery tank and the suction nozzle. The hose is in an expanded configuration when the handle is pivoted to a substantially upright position and the hose is in a retracted configuration when the handle is pivoted about the pivot axis to a reclined position and the hose at least partially wraps around the pivot axis in the expanded and the retracted configurations.

A dust separator/collector assembly for a vacuum cleaner, comprising a housing, a first cyclone having an inlet and outlet for suction airflow, and an outlet for separated dust, a plurality of second cyclones, having respective inlets arranged to receive air from the outlet of the first cyclone, and further having respective air outlets and outlets for separated further dust, wherein the first cyclone is disposed in a lower region of the housing and the second cyclones are disposed in an upper region of the housing and wherein the first cyclone comprises a generally cylindrical cyclone body having a tangential inlet duct for suction airflow at a lower part of the cyclone body, and an upwardly extending outlet for suction airflow leading to the inlets of the second cyclone.

Dust separation in vacuum cleaners

A floor cleaning machine for cleaning a surface includes a body having a suction nozzle thereon, a handle pivotably coupled to the body and having a motor housing portion, and a suction motor assembly operable to draw fluid and dirt from the surface through the suction nozzle. The floor cleaning machine also includes a recovery tank coupled to the handle in fluid communication with the suction motor assembly to receive and store fluid and dirt drawn through the suction nozzle and an expandable hose fluidly communicating the recovery tank and the suction nozzle. The hose is in one of a retracted configuration and an expanded configuration when the handle is pivoted to a substantially upright position, and the other when pivoted to a reclined position. The hose at least partially wraps around the motor housing portion when in the expanded configuration.

A head for a surface cleaning device, the head includes an inlet for receiving dirt-laden fluid from a surface and an inlet extension member. The inlet extension member is movable with respect to the inlet between first and second positions.

Upright vacuum cleaner

A suction cleaner includes a suction unit for creating a flow of air and a flexible suction hose having a hose inlet at which air may be drawn into the suction hose. The suction hose leads from the suction unit and includes a first hose portion and a second hose portion having a connection to the first hose portion. The second hose portion includes the hose inlet. The suction unit includes a body that at least partially defines a storage volume in which the first hose portion can be accommodated when the first hose portion is in a contracted condition, and from which the first hose portion can be deployed when required. A first roller is positioned within the body and is supported on a first axis that is fixed with respect to the body. A second roller is positioned within the body and is supported on a second axis. The second axis is movable along an arc. A portion of the arc has a focus point positioned on the same side of the arc as the first axis. The first roller and the second roller cooperate to support the first hose portion in the contracted condition.

Suction cleaner

A hose assembly for a suction cleaner, comprising a suction hose portion which is able to be extended lengthwise when subject to lengthwise tension and to return to a lengthwise-contracted configuration when relieved of the lengthwise tension, and a support means extending lengthwise of the hose portion and co-operable therewith to constrain at least part of it in its contracted configuration. There may also be a hose portion which is substantially non-extendible in normal use.

Hose assembly for suction cleaner

A cyclonic separator assembly for a vacuum cleaner, the assembly including a first cyclonic separator for effecting a first stage of dust separation from the suction airflow of the cleaner, and at least one further cyclonic separator for further separation of dust from the air flow following the first separator, and a receptacle for separated dust, the receptacle including respective receiving portions for receiving dust separated by the first separator and the further separator(s), wherein the respective portions of the dust receptacle are able to be emptied separately from one another.

The head () including: a lower housing portion (); an upper housing portion (); and a rotatably mounted brush bar () mounted within the housing portions (). The upper housing portion () is pivotable relative to the lower housing portion () between a closed position for use and an open position in which the brush bar () is exposed from above and the front.

A suction cleaner comprising a suction unit having a source of suction and a separator/collector arrangement for separating entrained dirt from a flow of air created by the source of suction and for collecting and retaining such separated dirt for disposal; and a flexible suction hose for conveying suction airflow to the suction unit from a hose inlet at which a cleaning tool may be connected; wherein the suction hose comprises a first portion which can be accommodated in the suction unit and deployed therefrom when required and which is extendible in length when subject to lengthways tension, and a second portion having the inlet and connected to the first hose portion.
