A method and system of configuring a network using a network application of a mobile device including detecting a gesture sequence that comprises at least one gesture, in response to a user performed action. The detected gesture sequence may be indicative of network configuration rules associated with at least one network device. The method may further include receiving and storing network access credentials, and accessing a network configuration database. The network configuration database may comprise a plurality of gesture sequences and a plurality of associated tasks. The method may also include determining a match for the detected gesture sequence among the plurality of gesture sequences; determining an associated task based on the match; and performing the associated task to achieve the network configuration action. The associated task may include a network configuration action based on the network configuration rules associated with at least one network device.

System and method for network configuration and behavior control by proximity enabled devices

A method of printing a document from a mobile device comprises coupling the mobile device to a proximate print device. The method further comprises, by a processor of the mobile device executing a print software application that causes the processor to identify a document to be printed, use data obtained from the mobile device to identify a context at a time that is concurrent with identifying the document, use the context to customize the identified document by identifying and modifying at least one parameter of the identified document, and transmit the customized document to be printed to the print device for printing by the print device. The data obtained from the mobile device comprises one or more of the following data sensed by one or more sensors of the mobile device, or data gathered by one or more mobile applications of the mobile device.

A method of encrypting information using a computational tag may include, by a mobile electronic device, detecting a computational tag within a near field communication range of the mobile electronic device, identifying a document to be encrypted by the mobile electronic device, transmitting the document to the computational tag by the mobile electronic device, receiving, from the computational tag, an encrypted document, wherein the encrypted document comprises an encrypted version of the document that was to be encrypted, and storing the encrypted document in a memory of the mobile electronic device.

In a system for detecting location of an object inside of a building, an image capture device of a mobile electronic device captures an image of a boundary of a room in which the portable electronic device is positioned. The system extracts features of a boundary (ceiling, wall or floor) in the image to determine whether the mobile device is in a known location. When the system identifies a known location, it will take an action that provides the portable electronic device with additional functionality at the identified known location. Such functionality may include connecting to a wireless network or communicating with a stationary device at the known location.

Disclosed are systems and methods that provide authentication for printed and/or electronic versions of a document through the use of a document authentication device in the form of a computational tag configured for short-range wireless communication only. This document authentication device receives authentication information for a document from a computerized device over a wireless communication link and uses this authentication information to generate encoded data to be embedded in the document in order to establish the authenticity of the document by functioning as an imprimatur. Specifically, when embedded in the document, this encoded data can add a visible feature or non-visible feature that, upon inspection, establishes the authenticity of an electronic version of the document and/or can add a printable feature, which will be readable off a surface of a printed version of the document to establish the authenticity of that printed version.

Methods and systems receive location identification tokens from transmitters using a portable computerized device. A first location identification token is received from a first location transmitting device, while the portable computerized device is within a predetermined distance from a designated location. A second location identification token is received from a second location transmitting device. A current location signature is calculated using the first and second location identification tokens. A previously stored location signature associated with the first and second location identification tokens is obtained from a computer readable storage medium. The current location signature is compared with the previously stored location signature to determine a similarity measure. The location identification tokens and the current location signature are stored in a memory and transmitted to a server. The presence of the portable computerized device at the designated location is verified based on the location identification tokens and the current location signature.

A method and system for pairing devices comprises transmitting a plurality of communication signals from each of a plurality of devices and setting an initial threshold vector of signal strengths as a current threshold vector of signal strengths for at least one target device selected from among the plurality of devices. Systems and methods for verifying physical proximity to a network device are provided. The method includes acquiring a tag identifier from a tag fixed in, on, or proximal to a network device, using a computing device. The tag is configured to be read and written to by electronic communication with the computing device, when the computing device is disposed in proximity to the tag. The method further includes transmitting data indicative of the tag identifier to a server, and receiving an authorization confirmation from the server. The method also includes rewriting the tag so as to replace the tag identifier with a new tag identifier, using the computing device, and performing one or more operations with the network device after receiving the authorization.

System and method for verifying physical proximity to a network device

The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for establishing trusted, secure communications from a mobile device, such as a smart phone, to an immobile device, such as a multi-function device. The disclosed techniques can include the immobile device displaying a pattern that encodes a cryptographic key. The mobile device can obtain an image of the pattern and decode it to obtain the cryptographic key. Because the mobile device obtained the image within its line-of-sight, for example, it can be assured that it communicated with the immobile device, and only the immobile device. The mobile device and the immobile device can use the cryptographic key to secure further communications.

A method for establishing a network connection between a mobile electronic device and a target network device includes establishing a short-range communications link between the mobile electronic device and the target network device. The method may also include, by a processor, executing an application that causes the processor to receive network device information from the target network device, via the short-range communications link, use the identifier associated with the target network device to identify a network to which the target network device is connected, use a transmitter component of the mobile electronic device to establish the network connection between the mobile electronic device and the target network device, via the identified network, and cause the transmitter component to send a communication to the target network device, via the identified network. The network device information comprises an identifier associated with the target network device.

A user manipulated mobile device is employed to read a readable tag affixed to or nearby a particular image forming device as a source device in which a print job is stuck, the mobile device running a print-job transfer application. The user then walks up to a different (or destination) image forming device and 'touch' its tag, and confirm, for example, when prompted, to transfer the 'stuck' print job from the source to the destination image forming system or device.
