Enforcing station fairness with MU-MIMO deployments

The present disclosure discloses a method and network device for automatic delivery traffic indication message (DTIM) interval control for better mobile power save performance. The disclosed network device determines one or more characteristics for at least one client device connected to an Access Point (AP). The network device then dynamically selects a DTIM interval for the AP based on the characteristics for the at least one client device, and configures the AP to transmit a DTIM beacon frame at a frequency based on the dynamically selected DTIM interval. Alternatively, the network device can determine one or more characteristics for a client device, and dynamically select a Virtual Access Point (VAP) for providing network access to the client device based on the characteristics for the client device and a DTIM interval configured for the VAP, and then cause the client device to connect to the VAP.

Automatic delivery traffic indication message interval control for better mobile power save performance

A method for performing aggregation at one or more layers starts with an AP placing at a first layer one or more received frames in a queue at the AP. When a transmit scheduler is ready to transmit an aggregated frame corresponding to the queue, the AP may iteratively select a plurality of frames selected from the one or more received frames, and aggregate at the first layer the plurality of frames into the aggregated frame. The number of frames included in an aggregated frame may be based on at least one of: a dynamically updated rate of transmission associated with a size of the frames, a class of the frames, a transmission opportunity value associated with the class of the frames and a total projected airtime for transmitting the aggregated frame. Other embodiments are also described.

Apparatus and method aggregation at one or more layers

MAC addresses provide a way to identify wireless client devices. Some wireless client devices are able to change their MAC addresses. Provided are devices computer-program products, and methods for identifying wireless client devices based on radiofrequency signatures of transmissions from the client devices. In some implementations, one or more wireless frames are received at a network device. In these implementations, a wireless frame is received at two or more antennas. In some implementations, a signal characteristic associated with transmission of the wireless frame is monitored. In these implementations, monitoring the signal characteristic includes using two or more antennas to determine a physical or temporal characteristic associated with the transmission of the wireless frame. In some implementations, a client device is identified. The identified client device is associated with the transmission of the wireless frame. In these implementations, identifying the client device includes using the monitored signal characteristics.

RF signature-based WLAN identity management

Method and apparatus for inferring wireless scan information without performing scanning or performing limited scanning

The present disclosure discloses a method and network device for detecting movement in a physical environment. Specifically, a network device obtains a first feedback information for a first set of wireless signals transmitted by a first device in a physical environment and received by a second device in the physical environment. Moreover, the network device obtains a second feedback information for a second set of wireless signals transmitted by the first device and received by the second device. The network device then compares the first feedback information to the second feedback information to identify a first set of one or more difference values. Based on the first set of one or more difference values, the network device determines that one or more physical entities within the physical environment have moved.

Detecting movement in a physical environment

A non-transitory computer readable medium includes instructions. The instructions, when executed by one or more hardware processors, causes performance of operations including receiving, at an access point, data targeted for a device, and determining whether an amount of the data targeted for the device is above a threshold. The operations further include, responsive at least to determining that the amount of data is below the threshold, transmitting a notification frame falsely indicating that the access point does not have the data targeted for the device.

Method and system for device aware power save

The present disclosure discloses a system and a method for providing power save aware multicast support. Specifically, a network device first determines that each of a first subset of client devices, of a plurality of client devices, is associated with a first characteristic indicating that the first subset of client devices is not in a power save mode. Based at least on the first determination, the network device transmits a message in a multicast format to the first subset of client devices. Second, the network device determines that each of a second subset of client devices, of the plurality of client devices, is associated with a second characteristic indicating that the second subset of client devices is in a power save mode. Based at least on the second determination, the network device transmits the message in a unicast format to each of the second subset of client devices.

Power save aware multicast support

The present disclosure discloses a network device and/or method for computing coverage set and resource allocations in wireless networks. The disclosed network device selects a radio frequency subdomain in a wireless network, and further determines a coverage set for the selected radio frequency subdomain. The coverage set includes a subset of access nodes in the selected radio frequency domain. Moreover, a respective access node in the radio frequency subdomain satisfies one of (a) the respective access node is a member of the coverage set, and (b) the respective access node is covered by at least one member of the coverage set with a signal strength stronger than a predetermined threshold.

The present disclosure discloses a system and method for using call admission control for client balancing. Specifically, a network device receives a message from a first access point in a network indicating that the first access point has rejected a call request received by the first access point from a particular client device. The particular client device is associated with the first access point. Moreover, the network device selects a second access point that is located in a radio frequency neighborhood of the particular client device. Further, the network device determines that the second access point has capacity to accept the call request from the particular client device, and steers the client device to associate with the second access point.

Various techniques and systems are provided for determining a location of a target wireless device. Specifically, various techniques and systems are provided for determining a location of a wireless device using timestamps assigned to communications transmitted between the wireless device and one or more other wireless devices on a same WiFi channel as the wireless device. Implementations describe devices, computer-program products, and methods including transmitting a beacon frame by a network device on a channel of a radio frequency band, receiving a first frame that corresponds to the client device, assigning a first timestamp to the first frame, transmitting a second frame in response to the client device communication, assigning a second timestamp to the second frame, determining a time difference between the first timestamp and the second timestamp, receiving an alternative time difference corresponding to an alternative network device on the channel, and determining a location of the client device using the time difference and the alternative time difference.
