A power system may include a high-speed flywheel connected to an engine of a machine; a battery; a motor-generator unit (MGU) connected to the engine and the battery; and a turbocharger connected to the engine. One or more of the high-speed flywheel, the battery and the MGU, or the turbocharger may be configured to provide supplemental power to power provided by the engine to operate the machine, or provide replacement power when no power is provided by the engine to operate the machine.

Power system for a machine

A variable drive system of a power system is disclosed. The variable drive system may include an engine gearset to transfer power from an engine output of an engine to a variable input driveshaft of the variable drive system. The variable drive system may include a generator gearset to transfer power, generated by the engine, to a generator driveshaft of a generator. The variable drive system may include a variable drive, coupled to the variable input driveshaft, to enable a gear ratio between engine output and the generator driveshaft to be adjustable, the variable input driveshaft being offset from at least one of the engine output or the generator driveshaft. The variable drive system may include a direct drive clutch to bypass variable power transfer through the variable drive and enable direct power transfer from the engine output to the generator driveshaft.

Variable speed drive for a generator

A variable drive system, to drive an accessory drive of a machine may include a first variable pulley to be mechanically coupled to the accessory drive and an engine output of an engine. The variable drive system may also include a second variable pulley to be mechanically coupled to a flywheel. The variable drive system may include a drive element to rotate, according to a clutch system, about the first variable pulley and the second variable pulley to at least one of: drive the second variable pulley to charge the flywheel with kinetic energy or drive the first variable pulley via kinetic energy from the flywheel.

Variable speed drive for an accessory drive in a hybrid power system

A transmission for a machine is disclosed. The transmission may comprise a first torque path for transmission of torque from an input shaft to an output shaft, and a single clutch element along the first torque path. The transmission may further comprise a clutch actuator configured to actuate engagement of the clutch element, and a clutch pressure control (CPC) valve configured to permit a flow of hydraulic fluid to the clutch actuator when in an open position to cause the clutch actuator to actuate engagement of the clutch element. The transmission may further comprise a FMR valve having a failure position obstructing flow of the hydraulic fluid from the CPC valve to the clutch actuator when the CPC valve is in the open position. The FMR valve actuated by pilot pressure from a CPC valve that controls actuation of other clutch elements that are not on the first torque path.

A transmission system for a machine is coupled to an engine of the machine that is adapted to generate power. The transmission system includes a hydraulic power path including a variator coupled to the engine. The transmission system also includes a mechanical power path. The mechanical power path includes a first gear arrangement including a plurality of gears. The mechanical power path also includes a second gear arrangement including a plurality of gears. The second gear arrangement is coupled with the first gear arrangement to receive the variable rotational power from the first gear arrangement. The mechanical power path further includes a first clutch assembly and a second clutch assembly. Further, the second gear arrangement directs the variable rotational power received from the first gear arrangement towards a final output member of the machine in a selected direction.

Transmission system for machine

A transmission for a machine is disclosed. The transmission may comprise a torque path providing a path for transmission of torque from an input shaft to an output shaft, and a single clutch element along the torque path. The transmission may further comprise a clutch actuator configured to actuate engagement of the clutch element, and a clutch pressure control (CPC) valve configured to permit a flow of hydraulic fluid to the clutch actuator through a control pressure line when in an open position to cause the clutch actuator to actuate engagement of the clutch element. The transmission may further comprise a failure mode response (FMR) valve in the control pressure line between the CPC valve and the clutch actuator. The FMR valve may have a failure position obstructing flow of the hydraulic fluid from the CPC valve to the clutch actuator when the CPC valve is in the open position.

Machine transmission with clutch element hydraulic control

A continuously variable transmission includes two planetary gear sets having two planetary outputs and a planetary output shaft with a first drive gear. A variator drives a ring gear of the second planetary gear set, and a transmission input shaft is driven by the engine, which also drives the variator and the planetary input. Forward and reverse output systems are connected to the planetary output shaft and a transmission output shaft. A first clutch connects the first planetary output to the first drive gear, and a second clutch connects the second planetary output to the first drive gear. A third clutch connects the second planetary output to a second drive gear of the planetary output shaft, with the second drive gear being connected to the forward output system.

Supplemental hydraulic motor for continuously variable transmission

A supplemental hydraulic motor is provided that is coupled to an output of a continuously variable transmission in order to increase transmission output torque. The supplemental hydraulic motor is powered by a hydraulic steering pump and is also operational as a ground-driven, secondary hydraulic steering pump. In addition, the supplemental hydraulic motor may be used to retard the transmission.

Transmission for coupling to hydromechanical power source includes differential and range modules including planetary gear arrangements, a plurality of selectively engagable clutch assemblies, and a drop box module, which includes a final output member. First and second power source paths provide power to the differential module. The clutch assemblies are selectively engagable to provide variable rotational power from the differential module to the range module, and from the range module to the drop box module in a plurality of directional ranges. The drop box adapts the variable rotational power provided in the selected range for connection in a given application.

Modular arrangement for hydromechanical transmission

A transmission for a work machine may include a first variator including a first input geared to a transmission input, a first output, and a first displacement. A second variator may include a second input geared to the transmission input, a second output, and a second displacement. The first displacement may be greater than the second displacement. A first planetary gear set may be in mechanical association with the second output, selectively coupled to a ground, and in mechanical association with a first gear. A second planetary gear set may be geared to the transmission input. A third planetary gear set may include a transmission output and may be in mechanical association with the second planetary gear set. A second gear may be in mechanical association with the third planetary gear set and may be in mesh with a third gear that is in mechanical association with the first output. The second gear may be in mesh with the first gear.

Continuously variable transmission

A planetary gear train is disclosed. The planetary gear train may include a first planetary gear set, a second planetary gear set, a third planetary gear set, a fourth planetary gear set and a fifth planetary gear set between an input end and an output end. The planetary gear train may further include a brake set having a first brake, a second brake and a third brake, and a clutch set having a first clutch and a second clutch. The first brake, the second brake and the third brake, the first clutch and the second clutch may be selectively actuable to produce three different forward speed ranges and two different reverse speed ranges between the input end and the output end.

A clutch assembly is provided. The clutch assembly includes a basket member, an input member and an actuator that is disposed within the basket member. A hub member, having a hub spline and an inclined portion is disposed adjacent to the actuator. A cam member, having a cam spline and cam lobes is rotatably disposed on the input member. A shaft member, having a shaft spline and plurality of slots is rotatably disposed on the input member. The hub spline is engaged with the cam spline in a disengaged position of the actuator. The clutch assembly further includes a plurality of balls received within the corresponding slots of the shaft member. While moving towards an engaged position of the actuator, the cam spline aligns with the shaft spline thereby the hub spline engages with the shaft spline in the engaged position of the actuator.
