A method and an apparatus for self-interference cancellation in a communication device. The communication device includes an antenna configured to transmit a transmit signal and receive a receive signal through a duplexer in FDD communications, a first analog to digital converter (ADC) configured to convert the receive signal from analog to digital, a coupler configured to couple a sample of the transmit signal to a second ADC, which is configured to convert the sample of the transmit signal from analog to digital, and self-interference cancellation circuitry configured to process the digital sample of the transmit signal to generate a self-interference cancellation signal and apply the self-interference cancellation signal to the digital receive signal to cancel an amount of interference induced in the receive signal by the transmit signal. The SIC process provides additional isolation between TX signal and RX signal. The additional isolation could be utilized to relief the isolation requirement for the duplexer, reducing the cost and form factor of the duplexer.

Self-interference cancellation in frequency division duplexing system

An antenna and a base station including the antenna. The antenna includes a sub-array that includes first and second unit cells and a feed network. The first and second unit cells comprise first and second patches, respectively, having quadrilateral shapes. The feed network comprises a first transmission line terminating below first corners of the first and second patches, respectively; a second transmission line terminating below third corners of the first and second patches, respectively; a third transmission line terminating below a second corner of the first patch and a fourth corner of the second patch; and a fourth transmission line terminating below a fourth corner of the first patch and a second corner of the second patch. The first corners are opposite the third corners on the respective first and second patches and the second corners are opposite the fourth corners on the respective first and second patches.

High gain and large bandwidth antenna incorporating a built-in differential feeding scheme

A radio frequency (RF) unit and method of operation of the RF unit are disclosed herein. The RF unit comprises an antenna array, and the antenna array comprises a plurality of antenna elements. A first set of the plurality of antenna elements is configured to operate in a first mode and a second set of the plurality of antenna elements is configured to operate in a second mode. In the first mode, the first set of the plurality of antenna elements is configured to transmit and receive. In the second mode, the second set of the plurality of antenna elements is configured to only receive.

A user equipment (UE) and a method of operating the UE. The UE a display, a cover, a transceiver, and an antenna array. The display partially forms a front surface of the UE. The cover partially forms a side surface of the UE and includes a plurality of electromagnetic strips . The transceiver transmits a signal including a vertical polarization element and a horizontal polarization element. The antenna array is electrically connected with the transceiver and disposed in the space such that, the antenna array is substantially non-overlapped with the cover. The vertical polarization element or the horizontal polarization element is substantially perpendicular to at least one of the plurality of electromagnetic strips.

Solution for beam tilting associated with dual-polarized mm-Wave antennas in 5G terminals

An antenna and a base station including the antenna. The antenna includes a unit cell including a radiating element, a dielectric substrate, and a feed network. The radiating element includes first and second slots. The dielectric substrate includes a central cavity filled with a dielectric element. The feed network is proximate to the central cavity between the dielectric element and the radiating element and includes first and second horizontal feeds and first and second vertical feeds. The first and second horizontal feeds are separated by an air gap and a first vertical feed to feed a transmission to the first slot. The first and second vertical feeds are connected to the first and second horizontal feeds, respectively, and connected to feed first and second portions of the radiating element, respectively.

Antenna system hardware piece for terahertz (THZ) communication

An antenna array and a user equipment (UE) including the antenna array. The antenna array includes a plurality of unit cells. Each unit cells includes first and second patches, phase shift transmission lines, a third patch, and a transmission line. The first and second patches radiate at a first frequency band and positioned in a first plane of the antenna array. The phase shift transmission lines connect the first and second patches and shift a phase of a signal between the first and second patches. The third patch is positioned in a second plane of the antenna array and beneath the first patch and radiates at a second frequency band that is lower than the first frequency band. The termination unit cell is connected in series to one of the plurality of unit cells via one of the transmission lines. A user equipment (UE) and a method of operating the UE. The UE includes a front surface, a rear surface, a transceiver, and a plurality of electromagnetic strips. The front surface includes a display and the rear surface includes a cover. The transceiver is between the display and the cover and is configured to transmit signals supporting vertical polarization and horizontal polarization. The plurality of electromagnetic strips are proximate to the cover and oriented to selectively tilt one of the horizontal polarization or the vertical polarization of the signals.

The present disclosure includes an antenna and a base station including an antenna. The antenna includes at least one unit cell that includes a flap layer, a feed network, and a patch. The flap layer includes a plurality of flaps. The feed network is positioned below the flap layer and includes a plurality of feed lines. Each of the plurality of feed lines includes an excitation port and a transmission line. The patch has a quadrilateral shape and is positioned above the flap layer such that an air gap is present between the patch and the flap layer.

A method for a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method comprises receiving, from a base station (BS), information via a dynamic signaling comprising at least one of a medium access control channel element (MAC CE) or downlink control information (DCI) that includes information for a set of channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS); identifying CSI-RS resources each of which comprises a set of antenna ports based on the information; and measuring CSI using an aggregation of the CSI-RS resources, wherein an energy per resource element (EPRE) ratio between a CSI-RS and a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) is configured in the information to each of the CSI-RS resources comprising the aggregated CSI-RS resources.

Distributed FD-MIMO: cellular evolution for 5G and beyond

Reciprocity base frequency division duplex (FDD) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) downlink (DL) channel Channel-State Information (CSI) acquisition is provided. A base station (BS) includes a transceiver configured to measure uplink (UL) sounding reference signals (SRSs) at a UL carrier frequency, using two polarization components of an antenna array of the BS, and a processor configured to determine a quantity of propagation paths between the BS and a user equipment (UE), for each of the determined propagation paths, extract propagation parameters from the UL SRS measurements, for each of the determined propagation paths, predict a downlink (DL) channel based on the extracted propagation parameters and a DL carrier frequency, and generate a precoding channel matrix for the UE by summing the predicted DL channels for each of the determined propagation paths and for each of the two polarization components of the antenna array of the BS.
