A service system provides users with access to online services. As part of providing the services to users, the service system stores data for users in a data storage system. When the service system receives a request from an administrator of the system for user data stored in the data storage system, the service system identifies the data requested by the administrator. The service system also determines policies that apply to the data. The determined policies indicate transformations that are to be performed on the data to protect the privacy of the users. The service system transforms the user data as indicated by the policies and provides the transformed user data to the administrator.

Providing access to transformed user data to maintain user privacy

A portion data structure representing a portion extracted from a formatted source document is described. A portion data structure contains a first subtree of nodes that is modeled after a second subtree of a complete hierarchical representation of the formatted source document. Explicit formatting attribute values are specified for nodes of the first subtree only where a value calculated for the formatting attribute in a node of the first subtree differs from a value calculated for the formatting attribute in the corresponding node in the second subtree at a time when the node of the first subtree descends from a reset node specifying standardized formatting attribute values. The contents of the portion data structure are usable to display the portion extracted from the formatted source document in a context other than the formatted source document.

In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for facilitating smart advertising on curated content-based networking websites in an on-demand services environment in a multi-tenant environment according to one embodiment. In one embodiment and by way of example, a method includes receiving a request for advertisement on a website, where the request may be received from an advertising organization. The method may further include estimating one or more factors relating to the advertisement, computing, based on the estimation, expected revenue relating to the advertisement, and placing the advertisement on the website based on the expected revenue.

Facilitating smart advertising on curated content-based networking websites in an on-demand services environment

In an example, a processing system of a database system may be configured to, responsive to receiving a request originating from a member of a web clipping service, insert first data associated with a clip selection of the request into a personalized online space corresponding to the member and retain second data that is different than the first data into an aggregated pool of data associated with a plurality of members of the web clipping service. The processing device may be configured to pair an advertisement of a plurality of advertisements with a resource of a plurality of resources responsive to an analysis of the aggregated pool of data, and store an association between the advertisement of the pair and the resource of the pair in a memory device.

System and method for aggregating web clipping data

The subject disclosure pertains to web searches and more particularly toward influencing resultant content to increase relevancy. The resultant content can be influenced by reconfiguring a query and/or filtering results based on user location and/or context information (e.g., user characteristics/profile, prior interaction/usage temporal, current events, and third party state/context . . . ). Furthermore, the disclosure provides for query execution on at least a subset of designated web content, for example as specified by a user. A three dimensional (3D) model of an object or environment may be created from images and other information of the object or environment. The 3D model may be created by aligning the images. The 3D model may include surfaces that are based on surfaces of the object or environment. The 3D model may be displayed, exported, modified and so on.

Procedural authoring

A facility for extracting visual contents of a page is described. The facility renders a page including visual contents, the rendered page including an extraction control. In response to user input activating the extraction control, the facility (1) selects a proper subset of the visual contents of the page that are specified by a publisher on the page for extraction using the extraction control, and (2) transmits a representation of the selected subset of visual contents for storage independent of the page.

Systems and methods that provide for a virtual reality entertainment system that supplies immersive entertainment and creates a sensation for a user similar to having guests in a remote location to be physically present as virtual guests. Such virtual reality entertainment system can supply a graphic and/or audio; wherein interconnected computers, video and audio processing devices, supply a live interaction between a user and a guest(s). In a related aspect, the subject innovation can implement holographic avatars, and a plurality of communication interfaces, to imitate (and/or transform) a relationship between the user and the virtual guests/surrounding environment.

Utilizing a scrollbar handle for both zooming and panning a display comprising items in a user interface may be accomplished by monitoring an input device's interaction with the scrollbar handle. If the scroll handle is dragged in a direction away from an orientation of the scroll handle in the scrollbar, a display area zoom function can be activated. The zoom function allows a viewbox, comprising content, to be rescaled as a function of the distance the scroll handle is dragged. A displaybox can be created that distinguishes an area of the viewbox from the remainder of the display, which corresponds to content in the viewbox that would be displayed in normal zoom if the scroll handle were released at that location. Further, upon detecting that the scroll handle is released, the display area can zoom to a view of the content inside the distinguished area.

A database stores mapped information which can be continuously updated and reorganized as links within the system mapping become stronger or weaker. The architecture can comprise a social network system that includes a database for mapping search-related information to an entity of a social network, and a search component for processing a search query for search results and returning a link to an entity of a social network based on the search query.
