A fixation instrument for treating a bone fracture including a bone screw and a nail, wherein the bone screw extends through an opening in the head or proximal end of the nail. A movable insert is disposed within a chamber located at the proximal end of the nail. The insert engages the bone screw to prevent rotation thereof once the bone screw is placed in position.

Fixation instrument for treating a bone fracture

A nail for use with repairing a bone fracture. The nail includes a cutting tip formed of at least one facet defining a cutting edge. The facet is skewed with respect to a primary longitudinal axis extending through the nail from the proximal end to the distal end. The nail further includes at least one groove extending longitudinally on the nail from the distal end to the proximal end, the groove having a cutting edge used to increase or enlarge the entry opening as the diameter of the nail increases from the distal end to the proximal end.

Rolled resorbable membranes and methods for their application have been discovered. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, rolled resorbable membranes are applied to the transverse processes of two or more vertebrae to facilitate fusion of the vertebrae.

Resorbable posterior spinal fusion system

An intramedullary nail for treating long bone fractures. The nail includes a proximal portion that may have a plurality of segments. The segments may be rotatable 360 degrees about a longitudinal axis of the nail such that the position of bone screw openings in the segments can be adjusted to a desired orientation. Locking rings or other locking mechanisms may be provided between the segments to lock the segments in place and allow the segments to be unlocked for readjustment of the position of the segments. The bone screw openings may be configured to allow further angular adjustment of the bone screws with respect to the longitudinal axis of the nail. Inserts may be placed within the bone screw openings to support the bone screws in position.

Intramedullary nail for long bone fractures

An intramedullary nail for repair of bone fractures. The intramedullary nail is of a modular configuration including a nail member having a chamber formed on the proximal end thereof. An insert having at least one opening therein for receiving a bone screw or fastener is disposed within the chamber and is secured therein by a locking ring. Accordingly, various inserts may be used to achieve selected bone screw or fastener configurations.

Rolled resorbable membranes and methods for their application have been discovered. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, rolled resorbable resorbable membranes are applied to the transverse processes of two or more vertebrae to facilitate fusion of the vertebrae.
