A bone plate is described which is adapted for use in situ to fix a spatial relationship of at least two bone parts. The bone plate has at least one pair of the bone screw apertures that are adjoined by a relief-space contiguous with the open space of the screw apertures themselves. An adjoined aperture pair forms a complex aperture and has a center-to-center distance of the apertures along an axis running through the centers of the apertures. The center-to-center distance is equal to or greater than the sum of the radii of the heads of the individual bone screw used with the aperture pair. At least one of the screw apertures has a screw head seat having at least one relief notch set into a surface of the screw head seat. The relief notch provides desirable advantages that are not similarly accomplished in their absence.

A bone plate is described which is adapted for use in situ to fix a spatial relationship of at least two bone parts. The center-to-center distance d is equal to or greater than the sum of the radii (r+r) of the heads of the individual bone screw used with the aperture pair.

A bone cutting fixture assembly for use as guide for a cutting blade in shaping a distal end of a femur to receive a component of a knee prosthesis is provided. The assembly has a centrally located, elongated support structure, made of a polymeric material, having a trapezoidal cross section, pairs of adjacent blade guide appendages supported therein so as to define four cutting planes, and two outrigger portions extending therefrom defining anchor points in distal ends thereof. The assembly defines a substantially flat support plane and has spaced apart anchor points positioned so as to enable secure fixing of the fixture to a femur by fixing devices.

A TPO bone plate with an offset longitudinal axis has a bone-contacting bottom side and a top side. Sets of overlapping holes communicate through the plate from the top to the bottom side. The overlapping holes have multifaceted surfaces such as a threaded surface or a coaxial series of annular grooves. The sets of overlapping holes are adapted to receive a bone screw with a head and a bone-engaging thread.
