Apparatus is for reception and transmission of data signals at one or more user locations. The data signals are received from and transmitted to remote locations typically via a satellite or cell phone transmission system. The operating condition of the apparatus at the user location is selectively adaptable such as to take into account the particular format in which the data signals are received or are to be transmitted to thereby allow the apparatus to be used in different locations and adapted for use at the time of installation or at a time after installation with no, or minimal, intervention or skilled technical personnel attendance being required at the user location to allow the operation of the apparatus to be adapted.

Apparatus for receiving and transmitting data via a satellite using at least two polarisations

There is provided an apparatus and a method for the receipt and processing of data signals carried in a plurality of predefined frequency bands and allowing a frequency band required at an instant of time to be selected from the predefined frequency bands from which data is to be retrieved. Passing the data signals from the wanted band to a transmitter and/or receiver including first and second mixing means to process the data signals, typically using in-phase and quadrative data feeds to create a predefined representation of the wanted frequency band, to provide an output for receipt by at least one broadcast data receiver and at least the transmitter and/or receiver is provided as part of an integrated circuit rather than as separate connected components.

Digital data processing apparatus and method

The invention relates to a system, apparatus and method for the distribution of digital data signals, which are received at a receiving means, to be sent to a plurality of locations downstream therefrom, in an efficient manner. The received data is received in a first format such as an RF format with a plurality of different components and is then changed in format, in one embodiment to an optical format. The data path is also split to allow a plurality of data paths to be defined which allow the data to be transmitted along the plurality of data paths to each of the downstream locations.

Data distribution system and apparatus thereof

The invention relates to apparatus and method which can be used to receive broadcast digital data. The apparatus and method are provided at one or more receiving locations and is connected to one or more broadcast data receivers at each location. The apparatus is capable of receiving and processing data in linear and/or circular polarity formats and the operating condition of the same can be altered in response to a command signal broadcast to the receiving locations prior to the transmission of data in a new format such as to the change in the operating condition of the apparatus to receive and process linear as well as the previously broadcast circular polarity format data.

Apparatus for selected provision of linear and/or circular polarity signals

An apparatus has an antenna configured to receive transmitted digital data, wherein the data comprises circular polarity (CP) and linear polarity (LP) format signals. The apparatus also has a waveguide coupled to the antenna and configured to propagate: 1) a first component of the CP format signal which is received; 2) a second component of the CP format signal which is received, said second component being substantially orthogonal to said first component; and 3) the LP format signal which is received. The apparatus further has one or more phase adjusters configured to allow adjustment to be made to match a phase of the first and second components of the CP format signal. The apparatus also has one or more amplitude adjusters configured to allow adjustments to be made to match an amplitude of the first and second components of the CP format signal.

Circular and/or linear polarity format data receiving apparatus

A waveguide for use in apparatus for receiving transmitted data signals is provided. The waveguide includes first, second and third channels with the received data entering the first channel and components of the received data, signals being selectively deflected from the first channel into the second or third channels. The form of the components depends on whether the data signals have circular or linear polarity. The components leave the waveguide in substantially the same phase as which they entered the waveguide thereby allowing the same to be subsequently processed. The provision of the waveguide allows the receiving apparatus to be used to receive data signals with either circular and/or linear polarity and be subsequently processed.
