A burner housing, comprising: an internal cartridge housed in an external housing; wherein the internal cartridge defines a plurality of ports selected from the group consisting of: an inlet cooling fluid port, an outlet cooling fluid port; a burner port; particle injection port; a cooling fluid circuit defined by and/or disposed in the internal cartridge and/or the external housing; and wherein the internal cartridge is made of a first material and the external housing is made from a second material.

A fluid assisted particle injector for a metallurgical furnace, comprising: an injector tube having an entrance end, an exit end and a removable tip; a cover tube disposed over the injector tube; a fluid and particle injector port in line with the longitudinal center axis of the injector tube and a secondary fluid port for directing pressurized fluid over the outside of the injector tube and within the cover tube; the injector tube defining a tapered internal bore having a particle entrance end and a particle exit end, wherein the diameter of the particle exit end is smaller than the diameter of the particle entrance end.

Fluid assisted particle injector

An oxygen/carbon blowing lance assembly for directing a supersonic flow of oxygen and a flow of graphite against the surface of molten bath in a steelmaking electric furnace. The two flows impinge upon the slag surface at discrete separate areas in the slag and the supersonic oxygen flow acts to emulsify the slag. The lance assembly includes a coolant shut off valve to prevent loss of coolant upon failure of the nozzle. The housing of the lance assembly includes a modular design for ease of maintenance.
