A turbine component repair apparatus includes: a first die having male and female halves for clamping a first section of a turbine blade with a platform and a root portion of an airfoil, the first die having a recess shaped to receive the root portion and retain a faying surface thereof in predetermined alignment; and a second die having male and female halves for clamping a repair section which defines a tip portion of the airfoil, the second die having a second recess shaped to receive the tip portion and retain a faying surface of the tip portion in predetermined alignment. The first and second dies have mating front faces configured to align their bottom surfaces in a common plane. A alignment device is removably attached to the second die to temporarily align the repair section in the absence of the male half of the second die.

Repair alignment method and apparatus for turbine components

A variable stator vane airfoil is mounted on a button centered about a rotational axis and includes circular leading and trailing edges circumscribed about the rotational axis at a button radius. Contoured pressure and suction sides extend from the circular leading edge to the circular trailing edge and are recessed inwardly from a perimeter circumscribed about the rotational axis at the button radius. One of upstream and downstream pressure side portions of the contoured pressure side is straight and another of the upstream and downstream pressure side portions is convexly curved. One of the upstream and downstream suction side portions is straight and another of the upstream and downstream suction side portions is convexly curved. One of the upstream pressure side portion and upstream suction side portion is straight and another of the upstream pressure side portion and upstream suction side portion is convexly curved.

Variable stator vane contoured button

A seating spring is provided for a gas turbine engine compressor stator having a casing with a circumferential casing slot for mounting a plurality of vane sectors at outer bands thereof. The seating spring has at least one reaction tab configured to abut the casing at one side of the casing slot and a spring arm connected to the reaction tab and configured to abut a respective one of the outer bands to bias the outer band against the casing at a second side of the casing slot. A retention arm is connected to the reaction tab and engages the casing so as to be prevented from moving radially outward. The spring arm is thereby retained in contact with the outer band.
