The automatically attaching collar clasps are installed in an animal bait station. The bait station has an inlet so that when an animal is positioned in the inlet, a male clasp on one side of the inlet automatically converges with a female clasp on the opposite side to the inlet to create a ratcheting connection and thereby secures a collar around the neck of the targeted animal.

The automatically detachable collar pendant system is structured so that when the system receives a signal, one end of the collar is released from the rest of the collar body, thereby unfastening the collar and allowing the collar to fall off of a target animal. The 'signal' may comprise a magnetic or induction heat signal. In the preferred embodiment, the signal is received (and the collar is unfastened) when the target animal feeds at a specially-equipped bait station.

The injection system provides an automated means to safely inject a target animal. In the preferred embodiment, the automated injection system injects an animal with a radio frequency identification device (RFID). The automated injection system includes a baiting station with multiple sensors that confirm the position of a target animal and initiate the injection process. A controller actively controls the injection process and records the identification data associated with each injected animal.

Deer and other nocturnal animals may be allowed to feed from a feeding device which also restricts feeding by squirrels, birds, and other diurnal feeders. The apparatus includes a walled enclosure having a sloped bottom for facilitating the gravity flow of animal feed toward an outlet from which the feed can then be accessed by the target animals. The opening is provided with a sliding cover which is controllably movable between a first position aligned over the opening to prevent dispensing of feed, and a second position removed from the opening to allow dispensing of feed. To prevent blockage of the cover by the feed when the cover is moved from the open to the closed position, an internal member is disposed within the enclosure which creates an accumulation chamber or dead space into which feed can be readily moved out of the path of the moving cover. In use, the cover can be moved to the first, closed position during daylight hours to prevent or limit feeding by diurnal feeding animals, and to the second, open position during night hours to allow feed to be dispensed to nocturnal feeding animals.

Mechanism for prevention of diurnal feeding from wildlife treatment and feeding device

An apparatus is provided for restraining wildlife with minimal trauma to the animal. The apparatus includes a housing having open front and rear ends allowing the entry and exit of a target animal, while the rear end includes an openable/closable door effective for controlling the egress of the target animal from the housing. To immobilize the animal, a deer lift is disposed within the interior of the housing having opposed, outwardly and upwardly inclined surfaces which are vertically movable between a first, lower position and a second, raised position. The opposed surfaces are spaced from one another with the space therebetween defining a narrow passageway allowing the target animal to walk between the opposed surfaces in the lower position. However, the width between the opposed surfaces is sufficiently close such that they engage the trunk or body of the animal when raised.
