An exemplary thrust collar for a turbocharger includes a substantially annular body that includes an axis of rotation, a bore, opposing end surfaces where one of the end surfaces is substantially normal to the axis of rotation and capable of seating a back end of compressor wheel, and a surface disposed in the bore where the surface is substantially normal to the axis of rotation and capable of seating a surface of a turbocharger shaft. The axial distance between the end surface for seating a back end of a compressor wheel and the surface disposed in the bore for seating a surface of a turbocharger shaft is selected to improve balancing of a rotating assembly. Various other exemplary devices, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

An exemplary compressor wheel includes a proximate end, a distal end, an axis of rotation, a z-plane positioned between the proximate end and the distal end, and a joint having an axis coincident with the axis of rotation and an end surface positioned between the z-plane and the distal end. Other exemplary joints, compressor wheels, chambers, systems and/or methods are also disclosed.

There is provided a locator device and an associated fixture and method for supporting a rotatable member. The locator device has a base and a plurality of flanges extending from the base in an axial direction and arranged circumferentially to define an aperture for at least partially receiving the rotatable member axially. The flanges defining slots for receiving radial portions of the rotatable member with the radial portions extending radially outward from the flanges. Thus, the locator device can support boreless rotatable members so that a tool can be supported against the radial portions of the rotatable member to thereby form the rotatable member to predetermined dimensions.
