A car seat includes cantilever armrests spaced from the seat portion of the car seat and adapted to receive a beverage container holder for holding juice boxes or other drinks. The cantilever armrests are attached to and extend outward from the backrest at a height above the car seat by an amount generally equal to the distance between a child's elbow and the child's seat. The child may rest his or her forearms on the armrests. The armrests may be rigidly attached or pivotally attached to the car seat. A beverage container holder is removably mounted to one of the armrests. The beverage container holder has a flange that extends parallel to a central axis of the beverage container holder and that is spaced from the outer side surface of the beverage container holder. The armrests include a receptacle, preferably a slot, to receive the flange of the beverage container holder.

Armrests for car seats

A car seat is constructed to be adaptable for use by children within the toddler-size range and the youth-size range. In particular, the car seat includes cam-shaped arm rests which can be rotated about an axis roughly parallel to a seat bottom, with the rotation resulting in supporting surfaces at different heights relative to the seat bottom. In addition, the car seat has a base portion which allows a seat body to be reclined relative to the base portion, and a five-point harness which is easily removed or adjusted for children of varying heights. The car seat also has a moveable or removable head support. The car seat can be adjusted for children of varying heights and weights, avoiding the costs of multiple car seats for different sized children.

An adjustable child car seat (100) includes a base (110) with a pivot rod (174) at one end and a level adjuster receptor (140) with a plurality of adjust positions (150) at an opposite end. A recliner (114) is carried by the base (110) at the pivot rod (174). The recliner (114) provides a level adjuster (250) that is selectively moveable into any one of the adjust positions (150). The recliner also provides a seat recline level adjuster receptor (220) with a plurality of recline positions (224). A car seat (102) is pivotably mounted to the recliner (114) by a seat pin (126). A seat recline adjuster (300) is slidably mounted to the car seat and is selectively moveable into one of the recline positions. Accordingly, the level adjuster (250) allows positioning of the base (110) to the angle of the supporting seat. Further adjustment is permitted by moving the seat with respect to the recliner.
