Technologies are described herein for cueing a pilot to flight deck controls based on steps in an electronic checklist (ECL). In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for cueing flight deck controls based on steps in an ECL includes displaying the ECL on an aircraft display that includes one or more steps involving controls on the flight deck. A step from the ECL is highlighted on the aircraft display and an indication indicating that the step has been completed is received. Upon receiving the indication, a next step in the ECL is highlighted. In various embodiments, flight deck visual indicators associated with the controls may be activated corresponding to steps in the ECL.

An aircraft system comprising a display system, a graphical user interface, a first grouping of the controls in the graphical user interface, and a second grouping of the controls in the graphical user interface. The graphical user interface is configured to display controls on the display system. The controls are for commands sent to an auto-flight system in an aircraft that control flight of the aircraft. The first grouping of the controls is configured to control sending of the commands to the auto-flight system from a flight management system in the aircraft. The second grouping of the controls is configured to control sending of the commands to the auto-flight system from a user input to the graphical user interface.

Technologies are described herein for providing a list of alternate diversion airports that is based on up-to-date and accurate information received electronically at the aircraft. The list of alternate diversion airports may be prioritized according to a normal mode when the aircraft is operating under normal flight conditions, or a non-normal mode when the aircraft is operating in an emergency situation. In one aspect of the present disclosure, a system includes an alternate airport diversion planner program that generates the list of alternate diversion airports based on diversion planning information received at an aircraft. The alternate airport diversion planner program subsequently receives periodic updates of the diversion planning information, which is used to update the list of alternate diversion airports that is provided to a pilot of the aircraft.

Alternate diversion airport planner

Technologies are described herein for detecting and recovering from a fire event within an aircraft. The technologies receive sensor data from a number of sensors associated with an aircraft. A determination is made as to whether the sensor data exceeds predefined thresholds indicating the fire event within the aircraft. In response to determining that the sensor data exceeds the predefined thresholds indicating the fire event, the technologies determine a location of the fire event within the aircraft based on the sensor data and depower components of the aircraft associated with the fire event. The technologies then initiate a fire suppressant mechanism within the aircraft directed to the location of the fire event.
