A padlock includes a lock body, a shackle assembled with the lock body, a lock subassembly disposed in a cavity in the lock body, and a shackle retainer assembled with the lock body. The lock subassembly is operable between a locked position securing the shackle in a closed position and an unlocked position permitting movement of the shackle to an open position. The shackle retainer extends into a first shackle bore and is received in a recess in a first leg of the shackle. When the shackle is in the open position, the lock subassembly is manipulable to be moved from a first position to a second position to generate a space in the cavity aligned with the shackle retainer, such that the shackle retainer is extendable into the space for disengagement of the shackle retainer from the first shackle leg recess.

Padlock assembly

A pin tumbler cylinder lock includes a shell, a plug, and at least first and second tumbler pins and first and second driver pins. At least the first driver pin extends into a corresponding plug channel when the plug is in a locked condition, such that rotation of the plug with respect to the shell is blocked. The lock is configured such that at least the first driver pin is separated from the first tumbler pin by a gap when the plug is in the locked condition. When the first and second tumbler pins are raised without the proper key and the gap between the first tumbler pin and the first driver pin is eliminated, the second tumbler pin extends across the shear line and into the corresponding shell channel.

Anti-tampering arrangements for pin tumbler cylinder locks

A locking device includes a shaft, a locking head joined to the shaft, and a lock body having a lock opening for receiving a locking end of the shaft. A latch member is disposed within the lock body and includes a shaft aperture for receiving the locking end of the shaft therethrough. The shaft aperture includes an edge portion spring biased radially inward of the lock opening to engage the recessed portion with the edge portion when the locking end of the shaft is disposed in the lock opening. A locking member is disposed within the lock body. Rotation of the locking member from a locked condition to an unlocked condition moves the edge portion of the shaft aperture out of engagement with the recessed portion of the shaft to permit withdrawal of the shaft from the lock opening.

Pin locking device

A latch assembly for a padlock includes a rocker having a central through bore and a tongue extending from an outer periphery of the rocker. A latch member is slidably disposed in a cavity in the rocker. A torsion spring is assembled to a spring retaining surface of the rocker and includes first and second legs extending from a center coil portion positioned around the through bore. The first leg extends beyond the outer periphery of the rocker, and the second leg terminates inward of the outer periphery of the rocker and engages a portion of the rocker to apply a biasing force against the rocker when the first leg is in a spring-loaded condition. The rocker comprises at least one spring fastening member securing the torsion spring to the spring retaining surface of the rocker.

Latching arrangements for a padlock

An electrically operable latch includes a housing and a latch member assembled with the housing for movement between an extended position and a retracted position. A blocker member is disposed in the housing and adapted to block movement of the latch member to the retracted position when the blocker member is in a first position, and to permit movement of the latch member from the extended position to the retracted position when the blocker member is in a second position. An actuator member is disposed in the housing and adapted to move the blocker member from the first position to the second position in response to an electrical signal supplied to the actuator member.

Electromechanical locks and latching arrangements

A padlock includes a lock body, shackle, locking mechanism and latch member. The latch member includes a laterally outermost shackle engaging portion that lockingly engages a recess in the shackle when the locking mechanism is in a locked condition and is disengageable from the recess when the locking mechanism is in an unlocked condition. The latch member is sized such that upward facing surfaces of the latch member that align with a circumferential edge of a shackle opening are limited to a notch laterally aligned with a laterally innermost portion of the circumferential edge when the shackle engaging portion is in a normal locking engagement with the recess.

A combination lock includes a lock body, a shackle axially moveable between a retracted position and an extended position, a locking mechanism, and a dial secured to the front side of the lock body. The locking mechanism is movable from a locked condition to an unlocked condition to permit movement of the shackle from the retracted position to the extended position. The dial includes an outer ring portion surrounding a stationary lock body face and rotatable with respect to the face, and a locking mechanism engaging portion disposed between the lock body face and the rear side of the lock body, wherein successive rotation of the dial to a series of one or more predetermined rotational positions causes the locking mechanism to move from the locked condition to the unlocked condition.

Combination padlock

A lock body includes a lock mechanism adapted to fix and maintain an inserted securement member, such as a cable or shackle, in position within the lock body. The lock mechanism may be coupled to a combination lock adapted to release the securement member upon entry of a proper combination.

Cable lock with resettable combination

A protective cover for a keyway disposed on an end surface of a lock is provided. A housing is adapted to be assembled over the lock end surface. The housing includes an opening that surrounds the keyway. At least one door is disposed in the housing opening. The door includes an edge for aligning with the keyway in a key insertion position. When a key is pressed against the door, the door moves away from the keyway, providing a key opening in the housing opening for insertion of the key into the keyway. At least one door biasing member engages the door and biases the edge of the door toward the keyway. The door is mounted on a pivot member disposed in the housing opening such that the pivot member and door pivot within the opening when the key is inserted into the keyway and turned in the lock. At least one pivot biasing member engages the pivot member to hold the edge of the door in alignment with the keyway when the keyway is in the key insertion position.

Protective cover for a lock

A radio frequency ('RF') electronic lock and a method of its operation are described. Also described is a programming key which may be used in connection with such a lock. It has several embodiments, including without limitations a mortise cylinder lock, a padlock, and a lever lock.

Radio frequency electronic lock

An integrated pin and clip for securing vehicle trailer components. The integrated pin and clip includes a shaft member and a clip member. The clip member is movable between a locked and an unlocked position. The unlocked position allows for the integrated pin and clip to be inserted and withdrawn from a receiving aperture in a vehicle trailer component, such as a receiver. The locked position does not allow the integrated pin and clip to be inserted and withdrawn from the aperture. The integrated pin and clip also includes retention means that secures the clip in either the locked position or the unlocked position.
