A hybrid spectrophotometric instrument utilizing absorption and fluorescence observations requires different cell parameters for optimal performance. The ability to have an instrument with a variable optical path length with a single set of optical surfaces and one detector to reduce system variance is unique. A Zero Angle Photon Spectrometer with the additional hardware and software to support a variable path length instrument is described.

Hybrid spectrophotometer with variable optical path length sampling cell and method of using same

A method and apparatus for the measurement of total organic carbon content in an aqueous stream is disclosed. Absorbance of electromagnetic energy by the aqueous stream is measured in an optical sample cell with pulsed light at a wavelength of 190 nm&#xb1;10 nm. A value of total organic carbon from the measured absorbance is calculated without absorbance or fluorescence measurement at any other wavelength.

Method and apparatus for the optical determination of total organic carbon in aqueous streams

A method and apparatus for monitoring water and other fluid systems is described. The fluid is continually monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring many optical parameters in an in-line, on-line system, which compensates for normal fluid changes while detecting abnormalities.

Zero angle photon spectrophotometer for monitoring of water systems

A light returning target for a photometer. The light returning target comprises a ball lens, and a cradle. The cradle has a hemispherical receptacle in which the lens is intimately received. Preferably, the lens is formed of fused silica, the receptacle is polished sufficiently to reflect, more than it scatters, light, and at least the surface of the receptacle is formed of a material that absorbs, more than it reflects, light.
