Disclosed herein is a user interface that can be universally mounted to a combination variable speed pump and a drive assembly therefor. The user interface is universally configured to be selectively mounted to the drive assembly and/or to an environmental surface that is remotely located from the drive assembly. The user interface is universally configured to be selectively mounted to the drive assembly in any one of a plurality of available positions relative thereto.

Improved flow control valve assemblies for fluid systems (e.g., pools or spas) are provided. Advantageous flow control valve assemblies for pool/spa cleaners (e.g., suction pool/spa cleaners) are provided. The present disclosure provides for flow control assemblies for suction pool/spa cleaners, with the cleaners utilized in conjunction with a variable speed pump. A manual valve set-up can be removed from the system, and an advantageous flow control valve assembly can be provided to automatically regulate the flow/suction to the cleaner. The improved flow control valve assembly thereby provides regulated flow to the cleaner, so that if the cleaner remains in the water at low pump speeds, when the pump is later operated at a higher speed the cleaner will function as designed. When there is flow/suction below the desired operating parameters of the cleaner, the pump will operate as desired, and the cleaner is stationary.

A self-priming dedicated water feature pump is provided. The water feature pump can include a strainer housing connected to a pump housing. The strainer housing can include a reservoir for allowing water to enter the strainer housing so that the pump can self-prime. The strainer housing can also include a post installed within the reservoir. The post can function to prevent a strainer basket from being installed in the strainer housing. The post can be of sufficient volume and/or geometry to allow enough water to enter the strainer housing so that the water feature pump can self-prime while also preventing a strainer basket from being installed in the strainer housing.

Exemplary embodiments are directed to pool cleaners that remove debris from water using a plurality of cyclonic flows, or that include a removable impeller subassembly, a check valve for a debris canister, a particle separator assembly having a handle that locks to the pool cleaner, a modular roller drive gear box, or a roller latch that secures a roller to the pool cleaner. Exemplary embodiments are also directed to the check valve and the roller latch themselves. Exemplary embodiments are directed to a filter medium for pool cleaners that includes embossments providing flow channels for water, and to roller assemblies for pool cleaners. Exemplary embodiments are directed to pool cleaners including alternative pump motor engagements. Exemplary embodiments are directed to pool cleaners power supplies that include a potted and contoured power board assembly, and to kickstands therefor. Exemplary embodiments are directed to a pool cleaner caddy, and removable wheels therefor.

Assemblies and methods for a booster pump used in a pool cleaning/filtration system are provided. An exemplary booster pump assembly is adapted to increase the water pressure of water flow for use in a pool cleaning system. The booster pump includes a front housing defining a substantially circular geometry having an inlet positioned substantially in the center of the front housing and extending axially outward with respect to the front housing. The booster pump also includes an outlet extending substantially laterally with respect to the front housing. The front housing and the rear housing form an enclosure for positioning of an impeller. The inlet and the outlet are each coupled to conduits having substantially similar flow diameters, and the water passing through the outlet at an increased water pressure is sufficient to make operable a positive pressure pool cleaner. Advantageous support structures and drain plug configurations are also provided.

Booster pump system for pool applications

A drain protection device and pump controller for pools, spas, fountains and other fluid containment and circulation systems has a vacuum sensor for sensing a level of vacuum present in the suction conduit leading to the pump(s). The vacuum level is monitored by a computer that controls a vent valve that can vent to atmosphere to reduce the vacuum exerted at a drain. In applications with a flooded pump, e.g., above-ground pools, the vent valve may control the discharge of an accumulator that injects fluid pressurized by the return line into the suction conduit to reduce the vacuum therein. The computer also controls the pump(s) present in the circulation system, viz., turns them off to relieve vacuum when a drain is occluded and also runs them at the selected speed based upon a schedule. The vacuum criteria for vacuum reduction may include progressively sensitive values, some of which may be empirically based. Vacuum criteria may be maintained based upon the operational state of the circulation system, e.g., priming, stabilized running or cleaning. Low vacuum limits protect the pump(s) from dry running. A clogged vacuum conduit leading to the vacuum sensor is sensed based upon the presence of vacuum levels that are atypically constant and error processing invoked.
