An assembly of a thermal probe and a probe fitting arranged to measure the temperature of a fluid medium flowing in a passage of the probe fitting. The assembly comprises a temperature sensing assembly that produces a resistance which varies with the temperature. A connector assembly that is connected to the temperature sensing assembly that transmits the resistance to external circuitry. A non-metallic housing includes a sensor portion incasing the temperature sensing assembly and a connector portion housing the connector assembly. A probe receptacle attached to the probe fitting is arranged to receive the sensor portion of the thermal probe, positioning the temperature sensing assembly in the passage to sense the temperature of the fluid medium flowing in the passage.

Thermal probe assembly

An apparatus and method for determining the position of a ring magnet fixed to a rotating device includes locating the ring magnet proximate to a sensor that is sensitive to magnetic polarities. The ring magnet includes a plurality of magnetic pole pairs of opposite magnetic polarities, having at least one pole pair larger than at least three other pole pairs. The sensor produces an output signal for each pole pair that represents a period when a pole pair is detected by the sensor as the ring magnet is rotated by the device. The output signals from the sensor are coupled to a digital circuit that differentiates the three smaller pole pairs from the at least one larger pole pair to determine the position of the ring magnet.

Apparatus and method for magnetically sensing the position of a rotating device

A fluid quick connector assembly () according to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, among other possible things includes a housing () having a passage () configured to receive an endform (), and a retainer () including a bridge (). A beam () extends from the bridge. Two retainer arms () extend from the bridge to retain the male endform () in the passage of the housing when the retainer is in an engaged position. Two guiding legs () extend from the bridge that guide the retainer () during movement to the engaged position. The bridge (), the beam (), the two retainer arms (), and the two guiding legs () are an integral unitary single piece component, and the beam () contacts the endform () when the retainer () is in the engaged position.

Quick connect assembly

A fluid quick connector includes first and second coupled housings having aligned bores. A biased shut off valve is mounted in the first housing and has a seal end normally biased into a fluid flow blocking position; but movable away from the seal upon contact with an end form inserted into the bores to a fluid flow enabling position. The first and second housings interact at an adjustable axial interface formed of mating threads to vary the insertion distance of the endform into the first housing after the endform is latched in the first and second housings by a retainer carried in the second housing, to regulate the fluid flow through the quick connector.

A water supply shut off valve is mounted in a fluid quick connector carrying a retainer for releasably and latching an endform of an external fluid operative device or conduit to connect the fluid device to a water supply conduit fluidically coupled to the quick connector. The shut off valve is movably mounted in the cartridge between a fluid flow position in response to the full sealing insertion of the endform into the cartridge. In this position, an outlet of in the cartridge is fluidically coupled to a bore in a housing surrounding the cartridge and connected at one end to the water supply conduit. The cartridge is rotatably mounted in the housing such that an outlet in the cartridge is movable with respect to the bore in the housing between maximum fluid flow, intermediate fluid flow, and fluid flow blocking positions.

A fluid quick connector adapted to be releasably mounted in a bore in a fluid use component. The quick connector includes a housing having a through bore releasably receiving a tubular endform. A retainer is mountable in the housing to latch the endform in the housing. A latch member carried on the housing is releasably engagable with a complementary latch receiver in the fluid use component. In one aspect, a latch member is carried on the end of at least one arm extending from the housing. Seal members are mountable in the bore in the fluid use component and retained in place by a top hat mountable in the quick connector housing. The top hat maintains the latch member in engagement with the latch receiver an the fluid use component.

A quick connect body having first, second and third ports carries an insert extending from the first port to the third port and forming first and second flow paths through the body from the first and second ports, respectively, to concentrically mounted conduits attached to the third port and to one end of the insert. Retainer elements are mounted on the body and/or the insert to sealingly couple first and second conduits to the body and the insert.

Coaxial quick connector

A corrosion resistant tube comprises a metal tube having an outer surface. A zinc layer is electrostatically bonded to the outer surface, wherein the zinc layer is selected from the group consisting of powdered zinc, powdered zinc nickel alloys, powdered zinc cobalt alloys, and powdered zinc aluminum alloys. One or more polymeric layers may be electrostatically bonded to the zinc layer, or to a surface treatment layer, wherein the polymeric layer(s) comprises powdered thermoplastic materials selected from the group consisting of powdered nylons, powdered fluoropolymers, powdered polyesters, and mixtures thereof. Optionally, the polymeric layer(s) may be electrostatically bonded directly to the outer surface. A process for producing corrosion resistant tubing may also contain the steps of electrostatically charging aerated particles of a powdered material in a fluidizing chamber and conveying grounded metal tubing through the charged particles, thereby uniformly coating the tubing outer surface, and heating the coated tubing.

Corrosion resistant powder coated metal tube and process for making the same

A joint between a fluid connector body and a plastic tube is formed at least in part by spin welding, wherein the portion of the connector which is configured to receive the tube defines inner and outer surfaces which engage the inner and outer surfaces of the mating tube to create redundant circumferentially continuous seals between the fluid passageway and the outside environment. The use of multi-layer co-extruded plastic tubing having intermediate or bonding layers is particularly advantageous inasmuch as separate inner and outer seals are established between the connector housing and the inner and outer tubing layers, respectively, to ensure that neither system fluids nor foreign contaminants are exposed to the intermediate tube layers, thereby preventing capillary adsorption or delamination.

Spin welded fluid connector

A tube having a cylindrical main body and a thin wall defined by an inner surface and outer surface. The tube includes a first segment having a generally constant cylindrical cross-section and another segment having a variable cross-section containing convolutions to allow for flexing of the tube during installation. The convolutions extend less than the entire circumference of the tube or have tapered side walls which substantially reduce the size of the convolutions as the convolutions extend from one position along the circumference to a second position.

Asymmetrical convolute tube

A one-way flow valve quick connector is used in automotive fuel tank filler systems to interconnect the fuel filler tube with the fuel tank without the use of tools or special equipment. The quick connector includes a check valve to establish a substantially hermetic seal between the tank and the environment at all times to prevent the escape of liquid fuel during the refueling process as well as the escape of toxic vapors. A bypass vent operates during the refueling process to draw any vapors escaping from the tank or entering through the fuel fill tube inlet, filtering and returning them to the fuel tank.

A quick connector releasibly connects first and second conduits fixedly mounted in first and second, interconnectable connector bodies. The first body has an axially extending tubular first end, a frusto-conical portion, a reduced diameter shaft and an enlarged second end. A pair of angularly inwardly extending latch arms project from the second body to releasibly engage a peripheral edge on the frusto-conical portion of the first body.

Inline quick connector

A polymeric, multiple-layer tube suitable for use as a filler neck is disclosed. The tube is comprised of a generally cylindrical wall having an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface is approximately parallel to the outer surface and defines a generally cylindrical interior having a diameter D. The cylindrical interior, which provides a flow path for fuel, extends throughout the length of the tube. The tube is divided into one or more contiguous first and second longitudinal segments. In the first longitudinal segment, D is approximately constant along the length of the segment; in the second longitudinal segment, D varies with axial position. This variation defines a convolution, which allows the filler tube to be bent without crimping. The cylindrical wall of the multiple-layer tube further comprises an outer layer composed of a thermoplastic elastomer, and an inner layer composed of an extrudable melt-processible thermoplastic having an elongation of at least 150%. Though in contact, the two layers are not bonded together. When compounded with suitable additives, the filler neck tube exhibits good abrasion resistance, is nearly impermeable to hydrocarbons present in fuel, and is less susceptible to electrostatic discharge.

A quick connector housing element includes an elongated barb design for coupling the female housing to a tubing member. The elongated barb design includes a generally cylindrical sealing surface proximate a terminal end of the female housing. The sealing surface of the elongated barb enhances sealing properties between the female housing and the tubing and provides other advantages especially in connection with the use of multilayer tubing. Further, an O-ring is disposed about the sealing surface to provide a better seal.
