The invention relates to an image-recording element comprising a support and an image-receiving layer, wherein the image-receiving layer comprises anionic colloidal silica particles, hydrophilic polymeric binder, and fluorosurfactant, wherein the binder is present in an amount of between 2% and 15% weight of the image-receiving layer, the image-recording element has a 60-degree gloss of greater than 25, and a dry time of less than 1 minute.

A motion picture film photographic element is disclosed comprising a support having on a front side thereof a subbing layer unit and one or more image-forming units comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer coated over the subbing layer unit, wherein the layers coated on the front side of the support comprise in total from 5 to 30 mg/m,of dispersed carbon particles, and the majority of the dispersed carbon particles is contained in the emulsion layer or layers of the one or more image forming units or in intercoat layers which may be present between two emulsion layers. A silver halide light sensitive photographic element is disclosed comprising a support bearing at least one yellow image forming hydrophilic colloid layer comprising yellow image dye forming couplers and a substituted bisphenol light stabilizer compound which has a melting point of greater than 20.degree. C., wherein the yellow image forming layer contains less than 10 wt % high boiling permanent solvent relative to the total amount of yellow coupler in the layer. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the yellow image forming layer is substantially free of high boiling permanent solvent. A silver halide light sensitive photographic element is disclosed comprising a support bearing at least one yellow image forming hydrophilic colloid layer comprising yellow image dye forming couplers, at least one hydrophilic colloid layer immediately adjacent to the yellow image forming layer, and at least one adjacent cyan or magenta image forming hydrophilic colloid layer comprising cyan or magenta image dye forming couplers; wherein the yellow image forming layer is substantially free of high boiling permanent solvent, any immediately adjacent hydrophilic colloid layers and the adjacent image forming layer are substantially free of high boiling permanent solvents having a logP value of less than about 5.5, and the adjacent image forming layer contains a high boiling permanent solvent having a logP value of at least about 5.5. A motion picture sound recording chromogenic photographic film element for forming non-neutral images is disclosed comprising a film support bearing at least one silver halide emulsion layer comprising at least one dye-forming coupler which forms a dye which absorbs primarily in the green or red light region of the electromagnetic spectrum upon processing with color negative developer, wherein the element does not comprise a neutral-balanced combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow dye-forming couplers. In accordance with most preferred embodiments, the light-sensitive emulsion layer of the sound recording film comprises green and red light-sensitive silver halide emulsion grains and cyan and magenta dye-forming couplers in the substantial absence of yellow dye-forming coupler.

Silver halide light sensitive photographic elements comprising a support bearing on one side thereof at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion yellow-image forming layer, at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion cyan-image forming layer, at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion magenta-image forming layer, and an antihalation layer comprising a cyan filter dye coated between the support and the red-sensitive layer, wherein the green-sensitive layer comprises a four equivalent magenta image forming coupler and the cyan filter dye is of the formula (I): ##STR1## where L.sup.1, L.sup.2, L.sup.3, L.sup.4 and L.sup.5 are methine groups; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are independently H or alkyl or aryl groups; and M.sup.+ is H or a counter ion; wherein at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 comprises an aryl group substituted with a substituent having a .pi. value of less than -0.10, where .pi. represents the group substituent component of the hydrophobicity parameter logP. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each H, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each phenyl groups substituted with one or more substituents, where the sum of the .pi. values for the substituents on each of the R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 phenyl groups is less than -0.10 at pH above 8. Photographic elements in accordance with the invention exhibit reduced dye stain after photographic processing, resulting in lower red minimum densities. Such elements also exhibit higher maximum densities, upper scale contrasts, and relative speeds compared to prior art materials. Elements in accordance with preferred embodiments of the invention exhibit improved safelight performance.
