A natural gas engine system may have an engine having at least one cylinder. The engine may also have an intake manifold configured to deliver air for combustion to the cylinder and an exhaust manifold configured to discharge exhaust from the cylinder. The natural gas engine system may have a generator coupled to the engine. The generator may be configured to generate electrical power for an electrical load. The natural gas engine system may have a fuel source configured to supply natural gas for combustion in the engine, and an air tank in fluid communication with the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. Further, the natural gas engine system may have a controller. The controller may be configured to direct a first amount of air from the air tank to the exhaust manifold and a second amount of air from the air tank to the intake manifold.

Natural gas engine system with improved transient response

A natural gas compression system is provided. The system may include a natural gas compressor configured to compress, and thereby pump, natural gas through a pipeline. The system may also include a natural gas burning engine, operatively coupled to the gas compressor, the engine being supplied with air by an induction system. The induction system may include a supercharger driven by the engine and configured to compress intake air and a turbocharger downstream from the supercharger and driven by exhaust gases produced by the engine. The induction system may also include a supercharger compressor bypass configured to selectively recirculate a portion of the compressed output of the supercharger upstream of the supercharger.

Natural gas compression system

A method of controlling a compressor includes measuring a pressure of fluid entering the compressor, measuring a pressure of fluid exiting the compressor, and measuring a rotational speed of the compressor. Signals indicative of the measured pressure of fluid entering the compressor, measured pressure of fluid exiting the compressor, and measured rotational speed of the compressor are sent to an electronic control unit. The operation of the compressor is controlled in response to at least the signal indicative of the measured rotational speed of the compressor received by the electronic control unit.

Engine turbocharger control management system

In one embodiment of the present invention a method for monitoring operation of a solenoid actuated gaseous fuel admission valve is provided by measuring the resistance across a movable metering plate and a stationary plate in the valve. The plates are constructed with electro-conductive material and the plates comprise a variable resistor. The resistance value across the plates changes as a function as to whether the plates are contacting, not contacting, or there is contamination between them. A converter circuit produces a resistive signal that is indicative of the resistance value of the variable resistor. Processing means receives the resistive signal and responsively determines whether the valve is operating within predetermined performance parameters. A signal may be produced to drive an indicator to show whether the valve is functioning properly.
