The present application discloses cellulose ester compositions that are plasticizer free that can be processed at higher temperatures with reduced degradation. The cellulose ester compositions disclosed are useful for the preparation of articles, for example eyeglass frames, automotive parts, and toys.

Polyester blends comprising (1) polyesters prepared from terephthalic acid, 100 to 5 mol % of 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol, and 0 to 95 mol % 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and (b) polyesters prepared from terephthalic acid and alkylene glycol. The blends may also contain an impact modifier and a phosphorous stabilizer. This invention relates to certain poly(1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate) copolyesters which are useful for the preparation of clear and tough thick wall molded parts, produced at good cycle times. The copolyesters can be molded into desired shapes such as cosmetic jars, fragrance caps, tool handles, and toothbrushes. These molded articles can have thick or thin walls and may be molded in a two shot molding process. The copolyesters also have good flow and reduced cycle times.

Polymer blends comprising polyesters made from terephthalic acid; 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol; and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, and copolymers made from acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene (ABS) monomers. Disclosed are liquid crystalline polyester molding compositions which are capable of being molded into an article having a thickness of less than 1.5 mm and a flammability classification of 94V-O as determined by the UL-94 20 mm Vertical Burning Test (ASTM D 3801) which are comprised of (i) certain all-aromatic, liquid crystal polyester consisting essentially of terephthalic acid residues, 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid residues, hydroquinone residues, and p-hydroxybenzoic acid residues; and (ii) about 0.1 to 10 weight percent, based on the total weight of the liquid crystalline polyester molding composition, carbon black. These liquid crystalline polyester molding compositions also may contain glass fiber. The disclosed molding compositions are particularly useful for manufacturing circuit boards and electrical connectors for use in various electronic devices.
