Soil displacement piles having a shaft and one or more soil displacement assemblies secured to the shaft are provided. If more than one soil displacement assembly is utilized, each soil displacement assembly is separated by a longitudinal distance. Each soil displacement assembly has an upper helical plate, a lower helical plate and separated from the upper helical plate by a longitudinal plate distance, and at least one soil displacement plate positioned relative to the shaft, the upper helical plate and the lower helical plate.

The present disclosure provides helical ground anchors or piles designed to cut through rock. The helical ground anchors have a shaft, one or more helical plates attached to the shaft and at least one cutting tip attached to the distal end of the shaft in order to make a first cut through rock along the axis of rotation of the shaft. The distal end of the shaft is tapered and the at least one cutting tip can be attached to the longer end of the shaft. The helical shaped plates are attached to the shaft at a distance above the at least one cutting tip.

Soil displacement piles having a shaft and one or more soil displacement assemblies secured to the shaft are provided. If more than one soil displacement assembly is utilized, each soil displacement assembly is separated by a longitudinal distance. Each soil displacement assembly has an upper helical plate, a lower helical plate separated from the upper helical plate by a longitudinal plate distance, and at least one soil displacement plate positioned relative to the shaft, the upper helical plate and the lower helical plate.

Each soil displacement assembly has an upper plate, a lower plate, a reamer between the upper and lower plates and secured to each plate, and at least one soil displacement arm extending from the lower plate.

The present disclosure provides helical pile leads and extensions with closely spaced perimeter shear helical plates that develop a cylindrical failure surface between the perimeter shear helical plates and soil as the helical pile is rotated into the ground, mobilizing soil-to-soil shear strength, and thus increasing the stability, stiffness and load capacity of the helical pile.

A helical screw pile includes a longitudinal shaft having a top end and a bottom end with a plurality of helical plates arranged on the shaft in increasing diameter from the top to the bottom. The largest diameter helical plate is located toward the bottom of the shaft. A second helical plate having a diameter smaller than that of the first plate is located above the first helical plate. A smaller third helical plate is located above the second helical plate so that the smallest is located toward the top of the shaft. The helical plates can be spaced apart along the shaft or coupled together in an end-to-end manner to form a continuous helix.

A ground anchor is provided for driving into the ground for anchoring or supporting a structure. The ground anchor includes a hub with a helical load bearing plate and a pointed ground engaging end having a body with a spade point blade extending axially from the body and the hub. The blade has first and second opposing spiral major faces and first and second transverse minor spiral faces that converge at a flat axial face to form the blade with a spiral configuration. The blade has a longitudinal dimension extending at an inclined angle with respect to a longitudinal center axis of the ground anchor so that the axial face of the blade is spaced outwardly from the center axis of the ground anchor. The leading edge of the spiral blade directs the soil to the leading edge of the helical plate of the ground anchor.

An improved transition coupling for a helical soil pile assembly transfers a compression load between two coupled shaft segments with little or no compression loading on the bolts that fasten the parts together. The coupling body has a shaft-receiving socket that extends axially into the body from one end to a socket bottom that axially abuts the end of one of the shafts. The body also has at least one shoulder between its ends that extends laterally outward and faces toward the end remote from the socket. A cylindrical portion of the body, which fits closely within the hollow end of the other shaft, extends axially toward the socket end up to the shoulder, which is adapted to abut the end of that shaft. At least one pair of aligned transverse holes in the body is adapted to receive a fastener.

A helical screw pile includes a longitudinal shaft having a top end and a bottom end with a plurality of helical plates arranged on the shaft in increasing diameter from the top to the bottom. The first helical plate is located toward the bottom of the shaft and has the largest diameter. The second helical plate is located above the first helical plate and has a diameter smaller than that of the first plate. The third helical plate is located above the second helical plate and has a diameter smaller than that of the second plate. The helical plate with the smallest diameter is located toward the top of the shaft. The distance between the first helical plate and the second helical plate is larger than the distance between the second helical plate and the third helical plate.

A lighter weight, high strength cast screw anchor is disclosed which has a hollow, installation wrench receiving hub, a helical, load bearing element projecting outwardly from the hub, and an elongated, pointed end spade integral with and extending away from the hub. The spade has two diametrically opposed, angularly disposed cutting margins located on opposite sides of the axis of the hub. The tip section of the pointed spade is offset laterally from the hub axis, so that upon installation of the anchor, the hub and helical load bearing element move in an orbital path about the axis of the tip, whereas the spade moves in an orbital path after the helical element has been installed in the ground to a depth limiting its orbital movement. The resulting anchor may be installed in dense or frozen soils with less torque and to a greater depth than heretofore available cast screw anchors.

An apparatus for stabilizing the foundation of a building structure includes a support assembly fastened to the foundation and a screw anchor installed in the earth in generally upright disposition with an upper end thereof located adjacent the foundation. The upper end is secured within a sleeve of the support assembly by a bonding composition to prevent movement of the screw anchor relative to the sleeve. During assembly of the apparatus, a lower bracket of the support assembly is attached to the foundation of a building to be stabilized, and the screw anchor is installed in the earth in generally upright disposition with an upper end of a rod of the anchor located adjacent the lower bracket. The sleeve is placed over the upper end of the rod, and a bonding composition is inserted into the interior space of the sleeve between the sleeve and the rod. The sleeve is also attached to the bracket to prevent settling and uplift movement of the foundation relative to the screw anchor.

An earth anchor apparatus includes a hub having a longitudinal axis and first and second axial ends, and a load-bearing helix affixed to the hub. The load-bearing helix includes a generally radially extending leading edge adjacent the first end of the hub, a generally radially extending trailing edge adjacent the second end of the hub, an inner circumferential section connected to the hub, and an outer circumferential section extending radially outward from the inner circumferential section and having an outer circumferential edge separated from the inner section. A pair of opposed surfaces extend between the inner section and the outer edge and define a thickness of the helix. The thickness of the helix at the trailing edge is greater adjacent the inner circumferential section than at the outer circumferential edge, and the thickness of the helix adjacent the inner circumferential section is greater at the trailing edge of the helix than at the leading edge. In this manner, material is removed from areas of the helix where less loading stress develops during installation and use of the anchor while materials is added to areas of higher loading stress.
