An epoxy-based crash durable adhesive composition including: (I) a liquid resin system comprising: (a) at least one epoxy resin; and (b) at least one toughener; wherein the viscosity of the above liquid resin system is less than about 800 Pa s at a temperature of 15&#xb0; C.; and wherein the viscosity of the above liquid resin system is greater than about 5 Pa-s at a temperature of 60&#xb0; C.; (II) a solid material comprising: (c) at least one hydrophobic fumed silica, wherein the fumed silica is present in the adhesive composition at a concentration of greater than 5 weight percent; and (III) a curative material comprising: (d) at least one latent heat-activated curing agent; wherein the rheology of the epoxy-based crash durable adhesive composition is such that the adhesive composition is pumpable at a temperature of 15&#xb0; C. or greater; and wherein the epoxy-based crash durable adhesive composition exhibits an increase in wash-off resistance; a process for making the above adhesive composition; and a process for bonding metal substrates together with the above adhesive composition.

Adhesive composition

One-component, moisture-curable polyurethane adhesives exhibit excellent handling strength before being fully cured, and excellent creep properties after curing. The adhesives include an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer made from polyols that include a crystalline polyester and hydroquinone bis (2-hydroxyethyl) ether, and a polyoxazolidine compound.

One-component hot melt polyurethane adhesive

The invention relates to a two-component adhesive based on hybrid urethane-acrylate epoxies comprising a core/shell rubber demonstrating good T-peel strength. The adhesives are suitable for use in industry, e.g., as adhesives for transportation industry applications.

Epoxy-acrylic hybrid adhesive

An additive elastomeric manufactured part having an elongation at break of at least 50% may be made by a method comprising the following. A material comprising a prepolymer and filler is first dispensed through a nozzle to form an extrudate deposited on a base. The base, nozzle or combination thereof is moved while dispensing the material so that there is horizontal displacement between the base and nozzle in a predetermined pattern to form an initial layer of the material on the base. Subsequent layers are then formed on the initial layer by repeating the dispensing and movement on top of the initial layer and layers that follow.

Aspects of the present invention provide a one component epoxy adhesive composition having improved impact resistance at low temperatures, such as &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. or less. In a first aspect, the adhesive includes one or more epoxy resins; at least one polyurethane based toughener; at least one amphipathic block copolymer; and one or more epoxy curing agents. A heat-curable structural adhesive includes a non-rubber-modified epoxy resin, a reaction product of a carboxyl-or amine-terminated butadiene polymer or copolymer and a bisphenol F-based epoxy resin, a elastomeric toughener containing capped isocyanate groups, one or more epoxy curing agents a moisture scavenger and a heat activatable catalyst comprising a mixture of a solid or liquid tertiary amine compound that has a boiling temperature of at least 130&#xb0; C. and a novolac resin. The structural adhesive develops excellent bonding properties when cured at moderate temperatures, especially from 120 to 170&#xb0; C., and in addition performs very well in environmental aging stress testing. The adhesive is particularly good for bonding aluminum to another metal, or bonding aluminum to aluminum.

Crash-durable adhesive with enhanced stress durability

The present invention provides low polyphenols (such as bisphenol A) tougheners for epoxy adhesives. The tougheners, and adhesives comprising the tougheners exhibit enhanced viscosity stability, e.g., compared to tougheners prepared from higher amounts of bisphenol A (and epoxy adhesives comprising them).

A two-component reactive dispensing system that is pliable is comprised of an outer sausage tubular member having therein an inner sausage tubular member in which the inner tubular member is bonded to the inner surface of the outer sausage tubular member longitudinally along a portion of the outer surface of the inner tubular sausage member. These adhesive provide a useful combination of long open time and excellent sag resistance.

Polyurethane adhesives containing alkyl-substituted 4,4'-di(aminocyclohexyl)alkanes, 2,4&#x2032;-di(aminocyclohexyl)alkanes and/or 2,2&#x2032;-di(aminocyclohexyl)amines

A composition comprising: a) one or more isocyanate functional components; b) one or more compounds containing a cycloaliphatic tertiary amine: c) one or more low functional acrylate containing components having about 1 to 4 acrylate groups per molecule; d) one or more high functional acrylate containing components having 5 to about 10 acrylate groups per molecule; and e) one or more compounds containing a peroxide group; wherein the composition is a two component composition and components a) and b) are kept separate from component e) until cure is desired. The composition may be utilized as an adhesive.
