A flow control device for mounting on a plural component spray gun for controlling the fan spray pattern of mixed components sprayed from the spray gun. A plurality of circular holes are formed in a single row in the flow control device at angles with respect to each other, so as to precisely control the flow of mixed material sprayed from the spray gun, without atomizing such material to thereby reduce harmful emissions.

Reduced emissions flow control plate

A series of flow control mixing devices used in a mixing chamber in a spray gun, or the like, to more thoroughly mix multi-components in a mixing chamber, consists of three different types of cylindrical mixing elements sealingly held in the chamber. Each of the mixing elements contains a pair of inlets, a central chamber and an outlet, connected together so as to mix entering components therein, and passing these mixed components to the outlet. Two of the types of mixing elements include a mixing reservoir or chamber formed on a top surface thereof. A plurality of second mixing elements are secured over a first or downstream mixing element, and a final or third mixing element is provided upstream of the other elements. The first element includes a spacing member on the lower surface, and all the mixing elements include O-ring seals held in grooves formed on the outer periphery thereof. The O-ring seals also act to both seal the mixing elements in the mixing chamber and the opposed ends of through passages formed within each of the mixing elements.

Serial resin mixing devices

A flow control device for mounting on a plural component spray gun for controlling the flow of short segments of fiberglass, liquid or powder, into a fan spray pattern of mixed components ejected from a nozzle of the spray gun. An internal passage in the flow control device is provided with a pair of resilient, rectangular plate members movable between open and throttling positions, so as to precisely control the flow of material into the fan spray pattern emitted by the spray gun. The pair of resilient plates are movable by adjusting screws passing through threaded openings formed in opposed side walls of the flow control device.

Adjustable chopper diverter for a spray gun

A fluid assist airless spray nozzle for spraying a plural component spray system has a nozzle plate having an airless discharge orifice located therein for spraying a first component of the plural component system as, for instance, a resin component. A first fluid discharge orifice is located on one side of the airless discharge orifice and a second fluid discharge orifice is located on the other. Outboard of the first fluid discharge orifice is a first gas discharge orifice and outboard of the second fluid discharge orifice is a second gas discharge orifice. The first component of the plural component system as, for instance, a resin is supplied to the airless discharge orifice and a second component of the system as, for instance, a catalyst is supplied to the first and second fluid discharge orifices. A gas is supplied to the first and second gas discharge orifices. The resin is discharged from the airless discharge orifice in a resin fan. Fluid from the first and second fluid discharge orifices are directed toward this fan such that the fluid impinges upon the fan and becomes incorporated therein and helps maintain the shape of the fan. Gas discharged from the first and second gas discharge orifices impinge upon the fan downstream from where the fluid impinges thereon and further shapes the fan.

Fluid assist airless spray nozzle

A spray gun has a housing with a piston chamber formed therein. A piston is movable within the piston chamber. One or more control rods connect to the piston and move in conjunction with the piston. The piston has a gas passageway in it. The gas passageway has a mouth which fits against a piston sealing member to control the flow of gas through the passageway. Each of the control rods includes a gas channel through the control rod extending from one end of the control rod to the other end of the control rod. Each of the control rods is associated with a spray component cavity with one of the ends of the respective control rods fitting in to a spray component seat within the component cavity. Movement of the control rod with respect to the seat serves as a valve for the spray component within the particular component cavity. In response to movement of the piston away from the piston sealing member, the control rods move away from their respective seat for discharging of the spray components from the component cavities. Concurrently, gas flow through the gas passageway in the piston is fed to the control rods for simultaneous ejection of gas through the spray component seats with the spray component.

Spray gun

A spray gun for dispensing plural component foam forming materials includes a mixing chamber having a plurality of entry ports for the individual components. A sliding rod is used to open and close the entry ports and a solvent tank is disclosed for cleaning the mixing chamber to prevent clogging of the gun. The tank includes a tube which fits within the mixing chamber to force solvent therethrough as the gun is inserted into the tank. Slots in the gun body may also be provided to insure further cleaning.

Spray gun and solvent cleaning of same

An article carrier adapted to be slidably urged upwards along a kite string under the influence of wind and to release the article upon reaching a predetermined position along the kite string. The article carrier includes a frame having a pair of upright arms adapted to be slidably attached to the kite string and to support the frame therefrom. A lever arm is pivotably connected to the frame at one end and a retainer member is connected to the frame intermediate the lever arm and defines a hook adapted to releasably receive the article thereon. An actuating member in the form of a stop is selectively positioned along the kite string and is engaged by the lever arm as the carrier is urged upwards along the string causing the lever arm to pivot and slide the article off of the retainer member freeing it from the article carrier.

Kite article carrier

The slider, to which the rear wheels of an automotive trailer are secured, can be released from that trailer to permit limited forward or rearward movement of that trailer relative to that slider. Sensors are spaced short distances apart along a portion of the length of the trailer, and openings in longitudinal members of that trailer are precisely oriented relative to those sensors. Power-operated locking pins can be selectively withdrawn from those openings to permit relative movement between that slider and that trailer, and thereafter those pins can be driven into those openings to prevent such relative movement. A readout is mounted in the cab of the tractor to enable the driver to precisely determine the relative positions of the slider and trailer and to effect power-controlled unlocking and locking of that trailer and slider.

Attachment for automotive trailers

A gun for dispensing a plural component system includes a housing having appropriate connections to a pressurized air supply and pressurized first and second component storage reservoirs. Within the housing are located first and second component feed ports, each having a control valve located in its interior. A valve carrier member is movably located in the housing and is moved by a trigger. The first and the second valves are connected to and moved in response to movement of the valve carrier member. The gun includes a gas passage having a gas valve located therein. The gas valve is also connected to and moves in response to the valve carrier. At the forward end of the housing is a static mixing chamber which has a discharge outlet as well as inlets leading to both of the component feed ports and to the air passage. When the valve carrier is in a first position pressurized air is introduced into the mixing chamber which purges the mixing chamber. When the valve carrier is in a second position the components of the plural component system are discharged from the respective component feed ports into the mixing chamber and out of the discharge outlet.

Gun for dispensing a plural component system

A water hydrant diffuser formed of a plurality of diffuser elements mounted in generally parallel planes in a housing. A coupling section has a free end and a mating end with the free end being designed so that the coupling section can be secured to a water hydrant outlet. The other end of the coupling section is connected to one end of the housing. A fluid flow measuring device can be inserted in the water hydrant diffuser intermediate the coupling section free end and the diffuser elements.

Water hydrant diffuser

A gun for spraying resin and catalyst and for holding an air-powered chopper that chops and deploys fiberglass, wherein the gun has an air-powered spray release valve, and has an air control valve operated by a single trigger to separately control the flow of air to the spray release valve and to the chopper. A nozzle plate at the front end of the spray gun has a convex rearward surface with two holes for receiving nozzle inserts, the holes being formed perpendicular to the convex surface so the sprays from the two nozzles cross a short distance in front of the gun.

Spray gun system

A chopper assembly of the type normally mounted on a spray gun to chop and spray fiberglass or the like, and which includes a backup roll driven by an air motor and a cutter roll. The exhaust of the air motor is expelled through air jets in the cutter roll to help drive the cutter roll while also muffling the sound of the exhausting air. The chopper frame is mounted on the gun by a hollow universal joint of the ball and socket type, which carries air to the chopper at any chopper orientation without the need for external flexible hoses or the like.
