A system comprises a plurality of port cards arranged along a first orientation, the port cards operable to receive data from one or more nodes on a network. The system also comprises a plurality of switch-fabric cards arranged along a second orientation orthogonal to the first orientation, the switch-fabric cards operable to route data between the one or more port cards based on one or more rules. The system further comprises a plurality of bridge cards coupling the one or more port cards to the one or more switch-fabric cards, the bridge cards arranged physically between the port cards and switch-fabric cards.

System and method for high connectivity platform

An apparatus, in accordance with particular embodiments, includes a shell comprising two substantially parallel surfaces. The apparatus further includes a plurality of connector housings mounted between the two substantially parallel surfaces. The apparatus also includes a plurality of connectors coupled to the plurality of connector housings. Each connector is configured to move along at least one axis within its respective connector housing. The apparatus further includes a plurality of cables. Each cable is configured to couple together at least two connectors. The plurality of cables are arranged between the two substantially parallel surfaces.

High connectivity platform

A circuit board assembly includes a circuit board, and a connector supported by the circuit board. The connector is configured to electrically connect with a pluggable transceiver module having a retention post. The circuit board assembly further includes a cage supported by the circuit board. The cage includes a cage body defining (i) a circuit board side which faces the circuit board, (ii) an opposing side which faces away from the circuit board, and (iii) a cavity within which the module substantially resides during module operation. The connector is substantially disposed within the cavity. The cage further includes a tab is configured to engage the retention post of the module when the module substantially resides within the cavity defined by the cage body. The tab resides on the opposing side defined by the cage body. Such an assembly enables installation of the module with its belly side up.

Supporting a pluggable transceiver module

An electronic interconnection system for delivering high-current power and ground voltages using a non-bottom side of a chip package substrate. The system includes a printed wiring board (PWB), a chip package, and a bridge lead. The PWB has at least a first and a second contact pad. The chip package includes a chip and a package substrate. The chip is mounted onto the package substrate and the package substrate has a bottom surface having at least a first contact pad and a second surface having at least a second contact pad. The first contact pad of the PWB and the first contact pad of the package substrate are coupled together. The bridge lead couples the second contact pad of the PWB with the second contact pad of the package substrate. The bridge lead may be selected from styles including flying lead, edge wiping, top wiping, and double wiping.

Method and apparatus for delivering high-current power and ground voltages using top side of chip package substrate

A motherboard assembly includes a motherboard, a circuit board, and an ejector assembly. The motherboard has a motherboard connector extending from a planar surface of the motherboard. The circuit board has a circuit board connector extending from a planar surface of the circuit board and coupled to the motherboard connector of the motherboard such that the planar surface of the circuit board orients substantially parallel to the planar surface of the motherboard. The ejector assembly orients between the motherboard and the circuit board. During an ejection procedure, the ejector assembly separates the motherboard connector and the circuit board connector while minimizing bending of either the circuit board or the motherboard. By limiting bending of either the circuit board or the motherboard, the ejector assembly minimizes damage to electrical traces or components carried by either the circuit board or the motherboard during the separation process.

Methods and apparatus for decoupling circuit board connectors

A gasket comprises an edge, a first end and a second end bounding the edge, and a plurality of slits spaced between the first and second ends. At least some of the slits are at one or more oblique angles to the edge. Therefore, a reduced risk of snagging is present when mating one gasket with another with a sliding motion. A method for installing a first electronic device adjacent to a second electronic device comprises coupling a first gasket to the first electronic device and coupling a second gasket to the second electronic device. The first device is placed near the second device such that the first and second gaskets contact with a sliding motion. When in contact, the slits of the first gasket are not parallel with the slits of the second gasket.
