The invention provides exemplary systems and methods for releasably securing a data storage device within a data storage system. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention comprises a cabinet which defines an enclosure. The data storage device is removably held within the enclosure. A cover is further provided which comprises a pivot end and a latch end. The pivot end is pivotally attached to the data storage device so that pivoting of the cover will release the data storage device at least partially from the enclosure. A cover latch is operably attached to the latch end, with the cover latch engaging the data storage device to prevent pivoting of the cover when the cover is closed.

A modular cabinet for enclosing a plurality of disk drive canisters. The cabinet includes left and right sides and a center section, each formed of molded structural foam. Each side includes horizontal top and bottom portions which include tongue-like projections for mating with similar features in top and bottom portions of the center section. The sides and center section are secured together through the use of four latching members which cooperate with features molded into the sides. The design of the components permits easy assembly of the cabinet without the use of tools. Horizontal rails molded into the internal surfaces of the sides and both surfaces of the center section form the bays for receiving disk drive canisters.

Drive canister mounting module

A vibratory plow suitable for laying flexible cable, pipe and the like underground. The vibratory plow assembly includes a frame which supports the assembly on a tractor, bulldozer or other vehicle, a vibrator and a plow. The vibrator includes a housing and a rotating eccentric weight assembly which imparts an oscillatory motion to the vibrator housing about a neutral axis having a varying and reversing moment. The vibrator is supported on the frame by resilient bearings in the neutral axis of the vibrator and the plow is supported on the vibrator housing spaced from the neutral axis to impart vertical vibration to the blade. The first embodiment includes a blade on each side of the neutral axis, such that the blades are vibrated in opposite directions to impart a shearing action. In the second embodiment, only one blade is utilized and a counterweight is supported on the vibrator housing to counterbalance the blade. The preferred embodiment of the vibrator utilizes two weights rotating in the same direction 180 degrees out of phase and a pair of amplitude adjustment weights supported on the vibrator housing equidistant from the neutral axis.

Vibratory plow

An incremental digital control system to effect incremental adjustments to an operating system. The control system is responsive to selective relationships between digital signals representative of operational characteristics for producing changes in control signals to effect the desired incremental adjustments.

Incremental digital control circuit

An actuator for a wire matrix printer including a plunger which is mounted in a frame for reciprocal movement between first and second positions therein, and the plunger has a print wire fixed thereto by a special swaging technique. The plunger is moved to and held in the first position against the bias of a special spring by a permanent magnet. When the actuator is to be fired, a neutralizing coil is energized to nullify the holding effect of the magnet, enabling the spring to accelerate the plunger towards the second position (towards a platen). The spring is disconnected from the plunger after it is accelerated, enabling the plunger and print wire attached thereto to travel ballistically at least part of the way to the second position from the first position.
