A method includes receiving at least one process control value from a deterministic process control environment according to an execution cycle of the deterministic process control environment. The method also includes providing the at least one process control value to a non-deterministic process according to an execution cycle of the non-deterministic process. The execution cycle of the non-deterministic process does not correspond to the execution cycle of the deterministic process control environment.

System and method to allow non-deterministic execution in a process control system

A system and method for managing the activities of a process. The system includes a first computer that uses standard control classes to manage the activities according to a standard control strategy. A second computer is used by a user to input custom data. A custom application program uses the custom data to automatically develop a customized control strategy as a custom class that operates as an inherited class of a base class of the standard classes to augment the standard control strategy with the customized control strategy in the management of the activities.

Method and apparatus for providing a standard control system with custom application capability

For use with a computer system having a dynamic data referencing (DDR) module, a plurality of external data references accessible via the DDR module, the computer system capable of executing a user application that operates on a plurality of generic variables, a system and method for dynamically binding the external data references to the generic variables. The system includes a DDR routine within the user application that allows creation of an alias variable for at least some of the plurality of generic variables. The alias variable is adapted to identify a given external data reference. The user application employs the alias variable at runtime to request the DDR module to bind a given generic variable to the given external data reference to allow communication of data between the user application and the external references.
