Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for offloading session management processing into a forwarding plane. In some examples, a subscriber is coupled to a network endpoint through a session manager during a network session of the subscriber in a network environment. A session manager offloading system of the session manager can be maintained in a vector packet processing system in a forwarding plane of the network environment. The session manager offloading system can be configured to offload processing from the session manager into the forwarding plane. Further, at least a portion of subscriber traffic in a stream between the subscriber and the network endpoint through the session manager can be intercepted. Subsequently, the at least the portion of the subscribed traffic that is intercepted can be processed at the session manager offloading system as part of offloading the processing from the session manager into the forwarding plane.

Session management in a forwarding plane

Systems and methods provide advanced network tracing techniques in the data plane. A data plane packet processing system can receive a request to trace a class of network traffic. The system can receive a plurality of packets. The system can determine on a per packet basis whether to trace the plurality of packets. The system can mark a trace flag associated with a first packet in response to determining that the first packets corresponds to the class of network traffic. The system can capture a trace entry for the first packet in response to determining that the tracing flag has been marked. The trace entry can be configured to include or exclude a packet count, a packet header, a packet payload, and/or processing information. In addition, the trace buffer for storing trace entries can be configurable (e.g., fixed-size buffer, circular buffer, or dynamic buffer).

Advanced network tracing in the data plane

Techniques that provide proactive and intelligent packet capturing are described herein. In one embodiment, a method includes storing information associated with a plurality of user equipment (UE) sessions of a plurality of UEs within a mobile network; detecting an anomaly associated with at least one UE session of at least one UE based, at least in part, on the information stored for the at least one UE session; and activating a trace for the at least one UE session based, at least in part, on detecting the anomaly associated with the at least one UE session, wherein activating the trace comprises capturing packet information for a data packet flow associated with the at least one UE session at one or more data-path network elements of a plurality of data-path network elements within the mobile network.

Proactive and intelligent packet capturing for a mobile packet core

A scheduler of central processing unit (CPU) usage arranges tasks in a plurality of classes, associating a given task with a top level class and a sub-class. Weights may be associated with sub-classes and usage targets associated with top level classes. A target CPU usage may then be determined for the given task from a weight and a target CPU usage. Once an actual usage of the CPU by the given task is determined in a first predetermined evaluation interval, a penalty duration may be determined for the given task based on the actual usage and the target CPU usage. A penalty may then be applied to the given task for the penalty duration during a second predetermined evaluation interval.
