A sample preparation cartridge for use with a sample preparation device, the cartridge includes a housing defining plural separate segments, at least one of said segments comprising a fixed section of a pipette component; and a moveable head comprising a pipette tip, the head being configured, in use, to be moved between a position in which the pipette tip is in sealed engagement with the fixed section of pipette component and a position in which pipette tip is positioned adjacent to another of said plural segments. With the present invention a disposable sample preparation cartridge and corresponding analytical reader can be provided in a very cost effective and simple manner.

Sample preparation system and cartridge

There is provided a sample preparation device comprising a sample preparation vessel and a bead manipulation mechanism for manipulating sample preparation beads in the vessel. The bead manipulation mechanism comprises: one or more magnets arranged to produce a magnetic field for manipulating, in use, one or more beads in the vessel. Each magnet is attached to a support frame by a biasing support arranged to support the magnet in contact against an outer surface of the vessel such that the magnet maintains contact with the vessel during relative movement between the magnets and the vessel.

Sample preparation system

A drive mechanism for a medicinal inhaler, the inhaler comprising: a patient port; a canister actuable by the drive mechanism to deliver a dose of medicament to the patient port, the drive mechanism comprising: a follower which moves between a first position in which the mechanism is primed for use and a second position in which the follower engages the canister to deliver a dose of medicament to the patient port, the follower being carried on a rocker plate which pivots as the follower moves between its first and second position, wherein the rocker plate engages a switch when the follower is in its second position to indicate that a dose of medicament has been delivered to the patient port.

A replaceable fluid container for a vehicle, the container comprising: a housing comprising a fluid reservoir; an outlet port arranged on the housing to couple the reservoir in fluidic communication with a fluid system of the vehicle for supplying fluid from the reservoir to the vehicle; an inlet port arranged on the housing to couple the reservoir for receiving fluid from the engine to the reservoir; and a vent port arranged on the housing to couple the reservoir for allowing gas to be passed into and out from the reservoir, wherein the inlet, outlet and vent ports are arranged on a common end of the housing and are arranged such that the distance between the vent port and the nearest of the inlet port and outlet port is greater than the distance between the inlet port and the outlet port.

Replaceable fluid container

A cartridge for replenishing a vehicle fluid, a fluid reservoir system comprising same and a holder, a holder, a vehicle engine comprising the fluid reservoir system and a vehicle comprising said engine in which, the cartridge comprises: a housing comprising a first part and a second part; a fluid reservoir in the housing; a port arranged on the first part of the housing to couple the reservoir in fluidic communication with a fluid system of the vehicle; wherein the second part of the housing is configured to rotate with respect to the first part of the housing to secure the cartridge with respect to the fluid system to hold the reservoir in fluidic communication, via the port, with the fluid system of the vehicle, wherein the second part of the housing is configured such that rotating the second part of the housing does not rotate the port.

Cartridge and system for replenishing fluid in an apparatus

A replaceable fluid container for a vehicle, for example a vehicle engine, the container comprising: a housing comprising a fluid reservoir; at least one fluid port arranged on the housing to couple the reservoir in fluidic communication with a fluid system of the vehicle; a vent port arranged on the housing to couple the reservoir in fluidic communication with the vehicle for allowing gas to be passed into and out from the reservoir; a vent tube connected at a first end, to said vent port and arranged within the reservoir to pass through fluid contained in the reservoir when the container is connected with the fluid reservoir in fluidic communication with the fluid system of the vehicle, with a second end of the vent tube in a headspace above the fluid in the reservoir, to allow gas communication between the vent port and the headspace, in which the vent tube comprises a vent valve at the second end of the vent tube adapted to close to prevent ingress of fluid and gas from the reservoir into the vent tube when the vent port is not in fluidic communication with the vehicle and to open to allow gas communication between the head space and the engine through the vent tube and vent port when the vent port is in fluid communication with the vehicle.
