A heat sink arrangement can be comprised of a substantially planar base and fins extending upwards from the planar base. The planar base can be shaped in accordance with a light-emitting diode (LED) light fixture. An improved heat sink that the planar base is a component of can be capable of fitting within the LED light fixture. The space between the fins can form air pathways. Each fin can be substantially arced in shape, originating from a central region of the planar base and ending at an outside edge of the planar base.

Heat sink for an LED light fixture

A female lighting socket connector of a light fixture can be removed to expose electrical leads of the fixture. When an electric light is present within the female light socket, the electric light can be removed prior to removing the female lighting socket. A short end of a universal adjustable L-bracket can be affixed to a structural member of the light fixture. A positionable planar LED array can be attached to a long end of the bracket to place the LED in a forward facing position. The position can permit the light emitted from the LED to illuminate an immediate area. Electrical leads of the LED can be directly connected to the exposed electrical leads of the light fixture. The removal and connecting steps can prevent backwards compatibility. When the LED is connected to the fixture, the bracket and the LED can be substantially within an enclosure and/or a hood.

Forward compatible retrofitting roadway light fixtures via a universal adjustable L-bracket

An LED lamp is powered by an external current regulated (constant current) power supply. The LED lamp provides a signal to the power supply to adjust the output current of the power supply to achieve and maintain a desired light output level. The signal is adjusted as the temperature of the LED lamp changes in order to ensure consistent light output of the LED lamp as the LED lamp changes temperature during operation.

Method and apparatus for controlling light output from a LED lamp

A light emitting diode-based bulb that includes a bracket and a housing translatably coupled with the bracket. The housing includes at least one light emitting diode (LED) unit disposed on a front face of the housing arranged to generate light in a direction away from the front face of the housing and a rear face of the housing with a heat sink thermally integrated into the housing. The heat sink including at least one heat dissipating member extending outwardly from the rear face of the housing to dissipate heat generated by the at least one light emitting diode (LED) unit. A fan is attached to the rear face of the housing, where the fan generates airflow that removes the heat generated by the least one light emitting diode unit.

An improved light-emitting diode (LED) light fixture can include a circuit board, multiple LED clusters, and a master power controller. The LED clusters can be arranged on the circuit board and can include at least seven LEDs electrically connected in series and a regulator circuit. The LEDs of an LED cluster can be arranged such that one LED is located at a central point of the LED cluster and the remaining LEDs are arranged in a circular geometry around the center LED. The master power controller can be coupled to the circuit board and can be configured to control power provided to the LED clusters.

A highly efficient LED lighting fixture includes a plurality of LEDs and a power converter and control circuit. The power converter circuit is a non-isolated power converter circuit. A heat sink is thermally coupled to a circuit board that carries the power converter, and an AC powered fan directs air over the heat sink to remove heat from the circuit board. The LED lighting fixture has an efficacy of at least 70 lm/w.

A tubular LED bulb includes a circuit board include an AC to DC conversion circuit that provides an output DC current at one of several selectable levels when provided with an AC power source. The DC current is routed through a plurality of LEDs at the selected DC current level. The AC to DC conversion circuit operates responsive to a selection circuit that allows a user to select a level corresponding to a desired light output level. The AC to DC conversion circuit allows the tubular LED bulb to be mounted in a conventional fluorescent light fixture, including a ballast, without regard to polarity. In some embodiments, the circuit board includes jumper blocks to allow multiple circuit boards to be connected in tandem.

A light emitting device can comprise a light emitter for emitting light at a defined light intensity and circuitry connecting a power source to the light emitter. The circuitry can adjust power provided to the light emitter over time to compensate for inefficiencies due to circuit and light emitter degradation. A more consistent light intensity of the emitted light over a life of the light emitting device and an improved life expectancy of the light emitter can be achieved than what would result if the power was not adjusted over time to offset degradation effects.

Using individual cluster-level power regulation circuits to extend LED light life

A multi-modal wireless controller can include a processor, memory storage, a radio frequency (RF) engine, outputs, power inputs, switches, a mode input, and a RF input. The memory storage can have machine-readable instructions that define the functionalities of a multi-modal wireless controller. The RF engine can be configured to transmit and receive wireless RF signals. The outputs can provide electrical power and a direct current (DC) voltage control signal. The power input can be configured to receive electrical power from a power source. The switches can be configured to switch the electrical power between one of the power input and outputs on or off, responsive to the processor. The mode input can include a switch element that designates an operating mode. The RF input can be coupled to the RF engine and can include a switch element that designates an operating frequency of the RF engine and/or a zone.

Multi-modal wireless controller for controlling an LED lighting system

A retrofit light emitting diode (LED) bulb includes a screw connector, a bracket, and a housing. The screw connector is configured to be screwed into a receiving socket of an electric light fixture for supporting the retrofit light emitting diode (LED) bulb. The bracket is physically attached to the screw connector. The housing is rotatably coupled to the bracket. The housing includes one or more LED units for generating light and one or more electrically powered cooling devices to remove heat from the vicinity of the one or more LED units.

The housing is rotatably coupled with the bracket and comprises a light emitting diode connected to the connector; and a fan connected to the connector.
