A DC electrical power generation system for aircraft having primary and emergency generation systems is disclosed. The system includes a transmission driven power generator, a dedicated generator control unit and a distribution network for providing sufficient capacity to all electrical loads on the aircraft. The emergency power system includes at least one engine driven starter generators, with an associated controller unit and associated distribution network for providing sufficient backup capacity to electrical loads assigned thereto.

Redundant electrical DC power system for aircraft

A radially loading ignition system for a muzzle loading weapon generally comprises a body having threads on its outer surface and a well sunk into one end for loosely holding a shotgun shell primer; a first opening through the side of the well for passing the primer into the well radially; and a rotatable cover enclosing the well and having a second opening which is aligned with the first opening for loading the primer and which is rotated out of alignment with the first opening for closing the ignition system. The ignition system is suitable for use in muzzle loading weapons using either an in-line firing system or a conventional swing hammer. A spare primer holder is also disclosed which comprises a semi-circular ring of elastomeric material adapted to snap onto a rifle scope or barrel and having a series of holes for frictionally receiving spare primers.

Muzzle loading weapon ignition system

An improved ignition means for a muzzle loading weapon which is adapted to fire a projectile, and comprises a barrel, an ignition means adapted to receive a primer charge comprising a cylindrical casing having an explosive charge within, and an annular flange at one end which extends outwardly radially from the casing, and a hammer adapted to ignite the primer charge. The improved ignition means comprises a primer receiver having a well with a distal portion and a proximal portion. The distal portion communicates with a powder charge receiving portion of the barrel, and the proximal portion has an open end. The proximal portion of the well has a first diameter, and the distal portion of the well has a smaller second diameter. The second diameter is less than a predetermined diameter of a primer cylindrical casing and is spaced from the open end a distance less than a predetermined length of a primer, so that when a primer charge is inserted into the well through its open end, the primer charge casing frictionally engages the smaller diameter of the proximal portion to hold the primer charge within the well with its annular flange outside of the well and spaced from the opening. Additionally, a tool is provided for grasping a primer to insert it into the well and for prying a recalcitrant primer out of the well.

Muzzle loading firearm ignition system

An apparatus for supporting a quiver and arrows comprises a holder (100) which includes a primary block (101) and an add-on block (103). The primary block (101) has means (102) for mounting the block to a support surface, a first means (12a') for presenting an arrow, and means (104) for attaching a quiver to the holder. The mounting means (102) comprises a threaded screw (106) movably mounted to the primary block (101) for movement between a first position where a substantial portion of the screw is retracted within the block and a second position where a substantial portion of the screw extends from the block. The quiver-attachment means (104) comprises two tongues (136) movably mounted to the block for clamping a conventional quiver to the block. The first arrow-presenting means (12a') comprises a channel (112a) and a foam pad (110a) which define a slot (13a') adapted to receive and frictionally retain an arrow. The add-on block (103) is removably mounted to the primary block (101) and has a second arrow-presenting means (12b'). The second arrow-presenting means (12b') includes a channel (112b) and a foam pad (110b) which define a slot (13b') adapted to receive and frictionally retain an arrow.

Apparatus for supporting archery equipment

A gas insulated transmission line has an inner conductor supported by insulators including a fixed insulator and a movable insulator with each having recesses in their outer portion having recessed metallic inserts therein of like configuration. The fixed insulator has disposed within the insert a base of an interconnection strap that extends along the sheath and is welded thereto. An insulating standoff button is further provided on the exterior of the base of the interconnection strap and presses against the outer sheath. An insert of the movable insulator contains a roller assembly. Preferably the roller assembly includes a substantially cylindrical roller of a semi-rigid insulating material that has edges bearing against the outer sheath and conforming to the configuration of the outer sheath by reason of deformation under load.

Gas insulated transmission line with support insulator hardware

A segmented inner conductor of a transmission line has joints between the segments with a plug on one segment fitting into a socket on an adjacent segment. An electrostatic shield covers the joint and confines particles. Particular features have to do with simplifying the parts and their means of assembly for speed and economy including a plug end having a stop configured for easy assembly with the main portion of an inner conductor segment, a shield with a folded under portion over a bond joining the plug end to the inner segment main portion, spring loaded contacts holding the shield to the plug end, and use of a retaining ring, without bonding, to secure a ring of contact fingers to a socket end.

Gas insulated transmission line with shielded electrical joint assembly

A gas-insulated transmission line includes an outer sheath and an inner conductor disposed therein, which inner conductor is formed from two inner conductor sections electrically connected together. A contact shield surrounds and electrically shields the connection of the two inner conductor sections. Insulating supports spatially support the contact shield within the outer sheath, and the contact shield physically supports the inner conductor sections. The insulating supports thus support the inner conductor through the contact shield.

Insulating spacer design for a modular gas-insulated transmission line

An improved gas-insulated transmission line is disclosed in which the transmission line itself is constructed in a modular fashion from elements which are joined together, typically at the final installation location, to form the transmission line. The other sheath and the inner conductor can be fabricated separately, at different locations and by different manufacturers, and transmitted to the point of final assembly and installation. A backup ring, insulator support assembly, contact shield, and connection member are separately fabricated into a single modular member, which can by itself be subjected to the testing procedures normally undertaken at the factory. This modular member, after satisfactorily passing its acceptance test, can then be shipped to the installation site. The installation of the transmission line, and formation thereof, can then be performed by inserting the inner conductor into the connection member portion of the modular member, and the outer sheath segments can then be physically connected to the backup ring portion of the modular member to form the transmission line.

A gas insulated transmission line includes an elongated outer sheath at ground potential, an inner conductor disposed within the outer sheath at high electrical potential, an insulating gas electrically insulating the inner conductor from the outer sheath, and an insulating spacer insulatably supporting the inner conductor within the outer sheath. An electrically conducting particle-trapping ring is disposed within, and spaced apart form, the outer sheath between the spacer and the outer sheath. The ring and the outer sheath form a low field region therebetween for the entrapment of conducting particles therein. Means are included for electrically connecting the particle-trapping ring to the outer sheath.
