A wellbore dart can be used to activate a downhole tool within a wellbore to perform a function, such as shifting a sleeve. The dart includes a tool activator that is releasably connected to a body of the dart. After the downhole tool has been activated, the body can be released from the tool activator to open a fluid flow path within the downhole tool. A device can be pumped and land on the tool activator. The tool activator can include multiple sections that expand radially away from each other when force from the device is exerted on the sections. Expansion of the sections allows the device to pass through the tool activator. The dart can also include a retracting device that moves the sections back together after the device has passed through the tool activator.

A system, method, and tool for controlling fluid in a wellbore. The system comprises a tubing string locatable in the wellbore and a crossover tool for enabling reverse circulation in the wellbore. The crossover tool comprises a tool body, a sleeve, a drag block assembly, and a packer assembly. The tool body comprises a bore in fluid communication with the tubing string and a valve in the bore. The sleeve is located in the tool body and controls the valve based on the axial position of the sleeve in the tool body. The drag block assembly is coupled to the sleeve through the tool body and engages the wellbore to resist axial movement of the sleeve relative to the tool body. The packer assembly is coupled to the tool body and creates a fluid barrier in the annulus formed between the tubing string and the wellbore.

Systems and methods for controlling fluid flow in a wellbore using a switchable downhole crossover tool

Switchable cross-over systems, devices, and methods for cementing well walls are provided. A switchable cross-over device includes a tool body and a flow sleeve. The tool body includes a main tool path separable into uphole and downhole tool paths and an auxiliary chamber containing uphole and downhole annular ports. The flow sleeve is within the auxiliary chamber and movable between conventional and reverse circulation positions. In the conventional circulation position, the uphole and downhole tool paths are in fluid communication and the uphole annular port is in fluid communication with the downhole annular port through the auxiliary chamber. In the reverse circulation position, the flow sleeve forms first and second auxiliary flow paths in the auxiliary chamber, the uphole tool path and the downhole annular port are in fluid communication via the first auxiliary flow path, and the downhole tool path is in fluid communication with the uphole annular port.

Switchable crossover tool with hydraulic transmission

Switchable crossover tools can include a tool body and a rotatable chamber. The tool body includes a main tool path separable into uphole and downhole tool paths and an auxiliary chamber containing uphole and downhole annular ports. The rotatable chamber is located and rotatable within the auxiliary chamber and forming first and second auxiliary flow paths through the auxiliary chamber. The rotatable chamber is positionable between a conventional circulation mode and a reverse circulation mode. In the conventional circulation mode, the uphole and downhole tool paths are in fluid communication and the uphole and downhole annular ports are in fluid communication through the auxiliary chamber. In the reverse circulation mode, the uphole tool path is in fluid communication with the downhole annular port via the first auxiliary flow path, and the downhole tool path is in fluid communication with the uphole annular port via the second auxiliary flow path.

A subsurface wellbore wiper deployment system includes a plug having an elongated body with an exterior surface; one or more exposed wipers extending away from the exterior surface; and one or more hidden wipers secured to the exterior surface and positioned underneath a removable sleeve; and a landing collar having a landing seat extending into an interior of the landing collar; the removable sleeve is to engage with the landing seat upon deployment of the plug; and the landing collar removes the removable sleeve to expose the one or more hidden wipers.

Subsurface wellbore wiper deployment system and method of use

A wiper dart includes one or more wiper elements disposed about a mandrel, each wiper element comprising a wiper cup that extends radially outward and rearwardly relative to the mandrel, and a nose assembly coupled to the mandrel. A drive element is disposed about the mandrel and includes a shoe and a cup coupled to the shoe. The cup extends radially outward and rearwardly from the shoe and exhibits a maximum diameter less than or equal to a maximum diameter of the one or more wiper elements, and the shoe provides at least one of axial and radial support to the cup.

A packer assembly includes an elongate body, at least one sealing element disposed about the elongate body, and a shoulder disposed about the elongate body and positioned axially adjacent the at least one sealing element. A cover sleeve is coupled to an outer surface of the shoulder. An annular support shoe has a jogged leg, a lever arm, and a fulcrum section that extends between and connects the jogged leg to the lever arm. The jogged leg is received within a gap defined between the cover sleeve and the shoulder, and the lever arm extends axially over a portion of the sealing element.

Wellbore isolation devices and methods of use

A wellbore isolation device includes an elongate body and a packer assembly disposed about the elongate body and including upper and lower sealing elements positioned axially between an upper shoulder and a lower shoulder, a spacer interposing the upper and lower sealing elements and having an annular body that provides an upper end, a lower end, and a recessed portion extending between the upper and lower ends. An upper cover sleeve is coupled to the upper shoulder, and a lower cover sleeve is coupled to the lower shoulder. An upper support shoe has a lever arm extending over the upper sealing element and a jogged leg received within a gap defined between the upper cover sleeve and shoulder. A lower support shoe has a lever arm extending over the lower sealing element and a jogged leg received within a gap defined between the lower cover sleeve and shoulder.

Switchable cross-over systems, devices, and methods for cementing well walls. A switchable cross-over device includes a tool body, a flow sleeve, and a hydraulic sleeve. The tool body includes a main tool path separable into upper and lower tool paths and an auxiliary chamber containing upper and lower annular ports. The flow sleeve is within the auxiliary chamber and movable into a reverse circulation position by a plug traveling through the main tool path. The hydraulic sleeve is located within the main tool path and mechanically coupled to the flow sleeve. The hydraulic sleeve is movable into a conventional circulation position via pressure within the main tool path acting on the hydraulic sleeve.

Methods for cementing a well using a switchable crossover device

A system, method, and tool for controlling fluid flow in a wellbore. The system comprises a tubing string locatable in the wellbore and a crossover tool for enabling reverse circulation in the wellbore. The crossover tool comprises a tool body, a packer assembly, a drag block assembly, and a sleeve. The tool body comprises a bore in fluid communication with the tubing string and a valve located in the bore. The packer assembly is coupled to the tool body and creates a fluid barrier in the annulus formed between the tubing string and the wellbore. The drag block assembly engages the wellbore and resists axial movement. The sleeve is located in the tool body and axially moveable relative to the drag block assembly. The drag block assembly is coupled to the sleeve, and axial movement of the sleeve relative to the drag block assembly rotates the sleeve to control the valve.

Systems and methods for controlling fluid flow in a wellbore using a switchable downhole crossover tool with rotatable sleeve

A downhole plug and method of activating multiple downhole tools in a subterranean formation are disclosed. The plug includes a detachable ring that enables the plug to land in and engage at least two different seats, each seat having a different profile. This in turn enables the plug to activate at least two separate downhole devices, one in an upper downhole tool and one in a lower downhole tool. The ring separates from the plug once a certain pressure is reached in the wellbore enabling the plug to travel downhole from the upper tool to the lower tool to activate the device in the lower downhole tool.

Multifunction downhole plug

A packer assembly includes an elongate body, an upper shoulder and a lower shoulder each disposed about the elongate body, and an upper sealing element and a lower sealing element each disposed about the elongate body and positioned axially between the upper and lower shoulders. A spacer interposes the upper and lower sealing elements and has an annular body that provides an upper end, a lower end, and a recessed portion extending between the upper and lower ends. A diameter of the annular body at the upper and lower ends is greater than the diameter at the recessed portion.

A cement head system for wellbores and method for maintaining dynamic fluid flow therethrough, wherein a base station wirelessly drives a control sequence to (1) open cement slurry valves to actuate external visual valve indicators, (2) open upper and lower safety valves, to actuate external visual safety valve indicators, (3) open a lower release chamber to actuate an external chamber visual indicator and to release a plug that triggers an external flipper visual indicator, (4) reset the external flipper visual indicator, (5) open an upper release chamber to actuate an external chamber visual indicator and to release a plug that triggers the external flipper visual indicator; and (6) open and close a release mechanism for each of the upper and lower chamber while pumping a flush fluid through the cement head. Each valve, the release mechanisms and flipper have a controller controlled by the base station.

In some embodiments, a subsurface wiping plug apparatus includes an internal bore that extends for less than a length of the apparatus. A ported case encloses internal components of the apparatus such that each port of the case is configured to couple the internal bore to an external side of the case. A plug capsule is coupled to an end of the ported case. The plug capsule contains an internal wiping plug that is releasable by internal pressure.

Subsurface wiping plug apparatus, method, and system

A cementing tool for use in a well has a housing and a closing sleeve received thereabout. An operating sleeve is received in the housing and is interconnected with the closing sleeve so that movement in the operating sleeve will cause the closing sleeve to move. The closing sleeve is detachably connected to the housing and is movable from the first or open position to a second or closed position in which it covers cementing ports defined in the housing. The tool has a plurality of lock rings that are moved with the closing sleeve. A plurality of locking grooves are adapted to receive the lock rings such that the engagement of any of the lock rings with any of the locking grooves will prevent the closing sleeve from moving out of the closed position.
