A pipemarker consists of an elongated sign, which has a front face for bearing identifying information and a rear face with a bracket-receiving channel, and at least one bracket that can be attached to a pipe with strapping. The bracket includes a rachet for tightening the strapping and an outward projection containing a compression spring which snaps into the bracket-receiving channel of the sign.

A sign is made by a pultrusion process by printing separate sign panels and attaching them to a fibrous component of the sign to make a longitudinally continuous sign panel subassembly which is beneath the surface of the sign. The sign panels are spaced apart in the subassembly by about the length of the sign and are fixed to the fibrous component prior to being pulled through a forming die. In the forming die, the subassembly is formed together with rovings, scrim resin and any other components of the sign into the cross-section of the sign. The sign panel subassembly saturates with the resin so that it blends in with the rest of the sign except for identification matter printed on it and is permeable to allow gases to escape as the resin cures in the die. The sign takes on its desired cross-sectional shape in the die and is cut off at its desired length after it exits the die. The sign panel may be on either side of the subassembly, and the subassembly may be beneath a surface layer. The fibrous component of the subassembly may be continuous, or may be in sections spaced apart and affixed to the sign panels. A double sided sign may be made by attaching pairs of sign panels side by side to a fibrous component which can be folded to display the sign panels on both sides of the sign.

Process for pultruding a composite sign

A lockout device for a valve having a lever handle. The device includes a channel member defining a channel to receive a section of the lever handle when closed and a leg that bears against the valve or pipeline connected to it. A lock is inserted through the apertures in the channel member alongside an edge of the handle.

A marker sleeve processig machine (20) for printing a legend (5) on individual marker sleeves (6) from a series (1) of marker sleeves fed through the machine (20). Various functions of the machine (20), such as transport of the web (1), printing of a sleeve (6) and removal of a printed sleeve (6) from the web (1), are correlated and controlled by programmed circuits (201,203). Data to be printed on the marker sleeves (6) can be input digitally, such as with a communication terminal (208) which may be a personal computer. The machine (20) provides a fully integrated apparatus permitting facile processing of a series (1) of blank marker sleeves to printed marker sleeves (6) bearing a legend (5) appropriate for use as identification devices and a convenient interface is provided for the user to enter the legends (5) to be printed on the marker sleeves (6).

A machine (1) for the application of marker sleeves (17) from a web (10) in which strips (A-D) of the marker sleeves are fed to an indexing head (62) and then to an application station (90) at which an endmost sleeve is removed from a strip and opened to enable an operator to insert a wire (6) through an opened sleeve.

An assembly of tubular sleeve markers formed by one or more top webs joined to a base web along transverse seams. The top webs are narrower in width than the base web. The base web has opposed marginal edge portions that extend beyond the top webs. Separable line means are formed in the base web in the marginal edge portions. The sleeve markers are individually detachable from the assembly.

A marker sleeve assembly (1) comprising a plurality of marker sleeves (2, 3, 4, 5, 15 or 16) each joined to a longitudinal connecting member (6 or 6'). The connecting member is formed integrally with the marker sleeves and is attached to the outer wall of each sleeve in the assembly. The marker sleeves are detachably joined to the connecting member so that an individual marker sleeve can be removed from the connecting member for application to an article.

A centrifugal rotary loader apparatus for a multiple tray conveyor includes a plurality of similar spirally-shaped, conical supporting surfaces, each having a radially extending pickup vane. Each supporting surface includes an inner loading cone angle of 30.degree. and an outer angle of 20.degree. for a retail merchandise warehousing system. An outer encircling guide wall has a discharge opening with a vertical trailing edge and an inclined leading edge. The load moves outwardly as a result of centrifugal forces through the opening. The rotary loader is loaded perpendicular to the direction of rotation and the tray conveyor is located beneath the loader with the center line of the trays aligned with the periphery of the loader.

Centrifugal rotary transfer apparatus

A lateral discharge chute is located to receive various sized parcels from a tilt tray conveyor with sidewalls which direct the parcels onto a runout conveyor. The discharge chute includes an inclined base wall with the upper edge located immediately adjacent to the conveyor and an upstream wall which curves downwardly to a lateral discharge portion to provide a gradually changing guide surface. A downstream sidewall of the chute is formed with an incline in the direction of travel such that the engagement of the sidewall by the load tends to cause the leading end to ride up on the wall rather than jamming between the upstream and downstream walls. The downstream portion of the base wall is provided with a pair of raised plateaus with interconnecting turning walls between the plateaus and between the base and the first plateau. The turning walls are inclined in the direction of the load movement and are further angularly oriented from the conveyor in the direction of conveyor movement. The second downstream turning wall is at a slightly lesser angle than the first turning wall. The base and sidewall constructions each contribute to reliable discharge of parcels without jamming in the discharge portion.
