According to various aspects, exemplary embodiments are disclosed of direct fired heaters including premix burner technology and/or feed forward control loop modulation via inlet air temperature.

Direct fired heaters including premix burner technology

A direct gas-fired industrial air heater low fire start control, includes circuitry for simulating a resistant circuit which bypasses the discharge temperature sensors, the remote temperature selector, and a space temperature controls, that has the effect of driving the modulating valve to a fixed open setting which in turn changes the valve voltage in order to obtain desired gas flow. In a further embodiment, an isolated DC voltage source which normally bypasses the voltage input to the system of the modulating valve can be inserted into the circuitry to effectively drive the modulating valve to a fixed open setting to obtain the desired gas flow rate. Various circuitry, and bypass gas flow arrangements, are further shown to increase the efficiency of ignition of the burner assembly, when started.

Low fire start control

In a direct gas-fire heater assembly having a generally box-like housing with a grate-like floor with a conventional gas regulator, a gas port mounted within a box-like shroud, the shroud having one side with a predetermined number, shape and size of primary combustion air inflow orifices to direct primary combustion air toward the gas port. A burner is mounted on the shroud over the gas port. The area above the burner and adjacent to it contains an ignition device and flame sense rod as well as a pair of opposed and particularly oriented flame shields on each side of the flame orifice. One each of a pair of opposed baffle-type deflectors is arranged on each side and just above the flame shield so as to form a combustion chamber as well as a path for secondary air flow to a downstream chamber. An additional flame deflector is formed on one baffle-type deflector to deflect the flame toward the blower area.

Gas-fired air heater assembly

In a burner assembly for location within an air supply housing for a heater and disposed for inducing the movement of air through a blower and into and around a burner assembly during heater operation to create a supply of heated air for a space to be warmed, the burner assembly being of the type having opposite side walls, and upper and lower tiered baffles, each having connected thereon an air balancing baffle, forming cavities therebetween, with the combination of the air balancing baffles and tiered burner baffles forming a combustion chamber therebetween for reception and combustion of gas delivered from a gas manifold arranged approximately at the intake end of the burner assembly, with a shroud arranged above and below the upper and lower tier baffles for directing air into an intake at the back of the gas manifold, and for selectively diverting and directing air through the air balancing baffles, and through the burner baffles, into the combustion chamber. A diverter is arranged at the back end of the gas manifold for directing incoming air between the shroud and the upper and lower arranged tiered baffles, and deflectors are arranged at the upper front and lower front of the shrouds, to delay the passage of air into the path of the combusting gases, with the sides of the combustion chamber being flared outwardly, to minimize the development of combusting gas hot spots.

Direct gas-fired burner assembly

A continuous water wash hood type ventilation system for installation over one or more cookers, wherein exhaust air is drawn into and passed through one or more hoods for scrubbing by a spray of recirculated solution, including a water-detergent combination, with each hood incorporating a canopy formed of a front, back, side and top walls, an exhaust outlet provided through the top wall, an exhaust chamber formed within the canopy by means of a series of arranged baffles, generally comprising an upper, intermediate, and lower baffle, all staggered, to adequately pass the exhaust gases through the canopy to achieve scrubbing and discharge, and for properly channelling the collection of the scrubbing solution within a basin for draining to a supply and recirculation reservoir. The recirculation unit of this invention includes its reservoir, a pump for recirculating the solution to the various spray heads embodied within the exhaust hoods, the reservoir holding the supply of water-detergent solution, and additional water may be added to the reservoir, to replenish any depleted stock, while further adding a quantity of detergent so as to maintain a specified concentration of the solution for use within the ventilating system; a drain may be provided for flushing all or part of the solution, and which accumulates grease and debris for collection of such impurities before the soiled water is discharged to the sewer system.
